very deep mellow tone. Not too loud at all. Sounds great inside the car, especially in manual mode. Keep the ASC engine noise turned off because it isn’t needed.

Any seat power gains?

Don’t drive it like that too often so I really can say accurately. It feels faster because it sounds better 😀 nothing scientific.

It would make sense that the car would respond better with the exhaust opened up.

“a dying talent”?……..no talent, a lot of imagination.

Aside from CARB/emission considerations, anyone thinking of just removing the second catalytic converters but keeping the factory mufflers & exhaust tips? Seems easy to just swap out the midpipe or take to an exhaust shop.

Guessing the GS-F and RC-F have slightly louder factory mufflers but seems this would be give us deeper rumble that many of us want while keeping the factory exhaust tips that many of us like.

(at 35” vs 1’20”)

The stock exhaust pinches down in the axleback section so removing the secondary cats would just be for sound. I was really tempted to just get a GTHaus midpipe and keep the stock mufflers until I saw the pinch.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the GTHaus axleback. Waiting for it to come in then gotta get it installed. I’m doing a sound video comparison but I’m putting a twist on it… since the recording device and however you listen to it (phone speakers, headphones etc) generally doesn’t do it justice, I’m adding a little dB sound meter to the video. Gonna show the stats of stock compared to modded.

I just did the same! Was gonna wait to see other options but too many clips from others tempted me.. I'll be installing it myself and will also post some comparisons.

I did a 2nd cat and resonator removal on my RC F and it sounds amazing and the IS 500 would get similar sound. It's about 30% louder with a deeper/more aggressive tone but still not annoying/no drone. I have also seen some people do a cat and muffler delete but keeping the resonators, no drone and sounds even louder. I was interested in trying it but if I didn't like it, putting it back to stock would have been a pain so sticking with my current set up.

If I could get an IS 500 I would do exactly what you did with your RC F. I'm fine with the factory hp levels and really past the stage where I pursue modding my cars for substantial performance gains. I can still appreciate what others do but I'm old now and really don't care about all that stuff anymore.

In fact if the factory exhaust was a bit louder I wouldn't change a thing.

My thoughts, exactly. That’s why I got the APEXi resonated catback……..not too loud and IMO and it looks aggressive. I’m 62 but I’m still a “hot rodder” at heart. 😁

haha - I hear ya - I'll be 65 next month. I was briefly part owner of a hotrod shop back in 2003 and have had my share of several restomods, muscle trucks, Viper GTS, TR42 exocar (think ariel atom on steroids) and a couple of S2000's. All I want now is reasonable performance AND RELIABILITY in a daily driver.

Just went to a car show this weekend and a lot of the cars are owned by older guys! You are right, it never goes away
I wanted an exocar so bad, but I can't do the work on it and I'm also sick in the head and would want one with 500hp lol

My exocar was terrifying. 400 wheel hp and 1500 lbs. Subaru based powertrain with a ton of one off parts. I sold it through Gateway in Atlanta in 2020 - took about 9 years to complete the build and get it all sorted out, dyno'd, suspension dialed in.
