I’ve owned two dozen cars and never had the windshield done. I tend to like 20% on the sides and rear. In a moment of weakness I went 35% on the ISF and now wish I had gone darker. But yeah, never have tried anything on the front.
I’ve got 70 on my windshield and can’t tell it’s there from in or out. Getting 50 on next one for sure.
just curious, have you tinted your sunroof? I’m being offered a great deal by an Xpel Prime XR installer but I’ve read too many reports of sunroofs exploding because of tint. And I called up Xpel HQ and they told me it could happen and I’d basically have to kick rocks if it does

Yikes! No I thought about it but then figured if I wanted it darker or cooler in the car, I’d just close the cover.

Yeah I've read about the exploding sunroofs too. I did not tint mine. I did 5% rear and 50% front I think. Might have been 35% front.
I believe I was told their clear tint, for UV protection, is 70% and legal on the windshield. In CA it is all that is legal on the front doors or windshield.
So I thought I would share a work in progress project in my garage. I have 10 foot height so I put a black moulding and will paint the lower 3 feet grey, then the top 7 feet is freshly painted white and had the custom Lexus F sport banner I had done and the Lexus logo my buddy did for me. When the grey portion is done, will share new pics but this really makes the garage look more customized and looks better in real life

Yeah they advised me that their lighter tints are what they generally recommend for sunroofs but even then they wouldn’t guarantee that it won’t happen. Way too much risk for me personally. I’ll just close the lid

I think that is a wise decision, I get the tint help with the temps but at that rate, I would just pull the shade cover. Not worth risking a sunroof shattering in a thousand pieces
