Good thing I saw the color in person on the LC 500 or I would never had given Infrared a chance and would have told my sales guy only Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0. Lexus own pictures for the IS 500 in Infrared for the launch of the IS 500 are the worst for the color. It looks dull and unexciting and the pictures are a little pixely so they went a little too hard on the compression. However have you seen the ONE picture they did for the Molten Pearl color? It's terrible.

What a dull looking color that looks nothing like what it does in reality. Literally any one of us can take a more vibrant picture than this...

They forgot to convert this pic to jpg. It was a png file and they must have made it larger because it's so pixely. Go home Lexus Press Department you're drunk...

I wasn’t a fan of the Molten either based on the pics. When I saw it in person, my mind was changed. Most pics do not do this color justice. I could also say the same for the Silver Enkeis. I couldn’t stand them in the marketing pics until I saw them in person.

Well, after a couple weeks of absolute chaos and heartache, I finally took my IS for a spin today and it reminded me on how much I love this thing...

Which is far better than what happened 2 weeks ago with the gf's car....

Which was written off after 17k of damage...damn wildlife that literrally came out of nowhere and plowed into our car

We need a button that isn't a like button. Sad to see what happened to the Corolla, I can't like that!

^^ I know.what you mean, now looking for a repacement and likely going with the corolla hatch although the 2024 chevy trax really intrigues me.

To make matters worse, I lost my dad about a week ago so needless to say, its been a bit overwhelming but in a way, having it written off took a bit of stress and unknown off my hand. Still not sure why they did though, they cut me a check for 33k whem a out 18k would have repaired but I had no idea or input on their decision...oh well

Very sorry to hear for your loss wthrman2.

Regarding the car - better you just got a cheque and be done with it. That thing looked completely totaled and insurance companies don't bother beyond a certain point of repair.

^^ much appreciated and yeah, i am sure there is a formula being used. In the end, i am happy with the fact i dont have a heavily damaged vehicle on my hand. I would have always been worried of hidden gremlins or potential issues.

OH….and I’m glad you were able to take car out for a good spin! The way it speaks to you, there’s nothing like it.

I've actually been shocked at how good my mileage has been. I get ~26 on the highway and ~20 on my regular commute (half city half highway). I'm sure those will drop in the winter, but still... I was prepared for much worse. Annoys me that the car computer can't get the mileage right, though. It reads roughly 1.5 mpg better than reality.

Well I envy you there lol. You must have better throttle control than me. Its always tempting to be on the gas cause of the sound.

I feel the same. My average mileage is now at 18.6... not terrible, but I know it could be closer to 20 if I just used some self control.

Unrelated photo.

Temps have gone up to around 100 every day and gas mileage has gone down slightly. Or it could be me romping on the go pedal or both!
