Yeah, I'm kinda lucky as we have Cars and Coffee every two Saturdays plus couple friends from the Lexus FB page that we meet couple times per summer!

Some things make the occasional 330am wake up call worth it …

Default Bath time

She was not dirty but I was looking for something to do. My neighbors probably think I am crazy.

^^ No one should ever need a reason to wash our cars!! (lol) I do a quick wipe after every single outing, I think macmaster is like me on that front.

Also, is it just me but when I saw you pic, I was like what kind of "pompon" hat are you wearing? I thought the water spot on the bottom right pic was a shadow of your head - I can't unsee it (lol) (nose and chin facing the right side of the image)

I’ve used them for years. For light road dirt and dust, they work great.

I just washed mine today, but it's futile right now, we are doing renovations to my house and the garage is filled with material so my car is being parked at a family members house. And after even a day or two the trees there drop so much pollen and the wind there is pretty bad as is the dust. The car looked so dirty I am afraid people will think I don't clean it regularly even though I have washed it every 2-3 weeks since I bought it. It looks nice tonight I'll be sad after a couple days again. I can't wait till I can garage my car again.

I used to use the California Car Duster on my old cars but stopped after I forgot it at my old apartment when I moved out. It’s a good thing though. Conventional wisdom says that overusing it can be bad for the clear coat. Even though its combo of microfiber and wax lifts dust, there’s still a chance to introduce swirl marks via friction of the brush and/or dust.

The truly BEST way to clean or dust a car safely is by using a surfactant like car wash soap or detailer. These have surfactants. Surfactants are polar molecules that will naturally pull dirt or dust away from the car’s surface and essentially envelope it in water by creating a micelle. The hydrophilic heads of the micelle interact with the water and the dirt can be rinsed off with water without any abrasion to the car. This is why nothing will ever beat good old soap and water.
