I have to admit, I was an Acura guy until the TLX came out in 2015 with their poor ZF 9 speed unit that was so unresponsive so I went to Lexus while they sorted their stuff and then never left. The TLX Type S was considered but the turbo is the part that made me decide to stick with the IS 500, a V8 is just so cool. That being said, the TLX Type has a wicked presence on the road, it's wide stance when it's coming toward you is quite nice
Agreed on Acura. Before I pulled the trigger on my ISF, I seriously considered the TLX Type S in Apex Blue. Beautiful car.
The Apex Blue highlights the lines/design of this car amazingly so.

Acura’s models no longer spoke to me after the Vigor and Legends. That weird *** beak…I mean…shield was so not sexy. ::shudder:: Never looked at them again until the TLX concept came out. Too bad they weren’t able to get closer to it.
Agreed on Acura. Before I pulled the trigger on my ISF, I seriously considered the TLX Type S in Apex Blue. Beautiful car. It’s no V8 Lexus (I’m biased lol) but its definitely a looker in that color combo, and I respect Honda turning out an AWD turbo V6.
Picked up my TLX Type S Last year when multiple Lexus dealerships didn’t come through with allocating a IS500 USB for me. Not to mention the stupid mark ups.
Well I’m glad I held out. Purchased a 2023 CBG IS500 on Wednesday for MSRP and I’m keeping the TLX Type S which is pretty darn close to USB.
^^ I ordered 2022 TLX Type-S back in Oct 2021. It was Apex Blue with the red interior & Performance wheels locally. I got so fed up with waiting back in January I got my IS500 LE at my local Lexus dealer. The Acura dealer had a Tiger Eye Pearl the day I put the deposit. but it was pre-sold back in Oct 2021.
I was all in on the TLX-S before the IS 500 was released, but the power figures were underwhelming so I looked elsewhere. Another 100hp and tq and I would have been sold. Luckily it all worked out, I'm still in the Lexus family and very happy.
Agreed on the TLX-S. Seemed a natural competitor to the IS500 given the performance figures that the similarly HP rated S4 and 340 put up. And then the magazines got a hold of them and showed that Acura wasn't grossly underrating their HP like Audi & BMW … and that’s when we all focused solely on the IS500.
^^ IMO most Acura interiors even on new models when I sit in it feels like I am in a Honda.. But when I sit in a Lexus it's a Lexus even though it's owned by Toyota Corp.
