Just joined the site after prowling since last year. I'd been waiting for the release of the Lexus IS 500 and the Acura TLX Type S as I considered the car to buy to shuttle myself into retirement mid 2023.
I've had my run of non daily driver cars to play with over the years and my goal was to finally get a car that would be a reliable performance sedan as my daily. I always had a boring sedan for my daily as my career had me covering a 14 state area.
After reviewing BMW, Audi and AMG I knew that I didn't want to have to pay for either the extended warranties nor the possible expensive repair bills that might arise down the road. So, I was left with Lexus or Acura.
Even if I were to add a JB4 module to the Type S the IS 500 still wins for a lot of reasons.
I'm in GA not for from Atlanta and briefly talked to a few dealers last year prior to the arrival of any IS 500's. Nalley Lexus in Smyrna had said they would not mark up above MSRP but that was just in a phone conversation last spring.
I don't mind placing an order for a Grecian Water on black and waiting however long that might take, even if it means getting a 2023 model.
Are there still dealers willing to sell at MSRP?
I'd be paying cash and I wonder what deposit would be required?
Can you even order the exact combo you want?
Do you think Lexus may eventually offer an exhaust option or only aftermarket?

Welcome to the forum!! I too am about to retire and wanted a retirement toy and was debating between the Type S and IS 500. I settled on the 500 because I like the interior feel of the IS having owened a few in the past. The Type S feels a bit too big for me and didnt want to deal with turbos for the long haul.
At the moment, the 500 is very limited in its production and havent heard of any custom orders being taken. If you want the GW, you may need to wait until 2023 as this color is very rare and some even speculating its not even offered this MY.
I also paid cash fornmine to avoid the higher rates and will just repay myself to replenish my savings as my slush funds. I think 500 dollars should be enough for a deposit and that is what they normally ask here. Mine didnt ask for anything as I am a repeat and frequent customer...best of luck

Welcome, depending on the state you may have better or worse luck finding at MSRP. For transporting from out of state... distance and closed or open transport, the costs may or may not be worth it to you. The car was intended to be available for at least 4 years, now that isn't set in stone but I'd not let a dealer tell you it's now or never and convince you to pay 5k or more in mark ups. I would also note that the TLX type S is more priced like a fully loaded IS 350 than a 500 so take that into consideration. I would have probably taken a Type S over the 350 and the 500 over the type S. I was lucky enough to get a color combo I wanted at MSRP from a neighboring state, but as far as I'm told they aren't taking orders per se, but waiting for allocations.

Here's your build. This came up in my search for the aesthetically and mechanically superior USB. Reach out to them and see if what they are listing at. They were marking up before ($5k for premium, $10k for Launch) but both sold. If this works out for you, I accept donations.

^^ That is sickening and disgusting, especially when some are getting them at MSRP or even below MSRP!!!
