Lexus Product Specialist and fellow IS500 owner chiming in
We're seeing no allocations for the IS500 at the moment for our store. We originally had quite a few LE's and Premiums but they have all since sold. Some great color combos too

You can somewhat get a sense of inventory by going to cars.com, searching new IS500s, and set distance to all miles. Repeat every few days. Currently there are 17 new (22 new and used combine), and in the past there were typically about 30-40. By no means is this scientific since there are many dealerships that don’t post theirs and these most likely are cars that have sat on the lot for a long time with markups. But it gives a sense of the inventory flow.
BTW I just KBBd the value of my Premium and it’s about 64k trade in and 67k private party. Interesting it’s higher than Msrp but still not above my OTD price. Hanging onto hope for 150k.

They gave me copy of the paper work showing what cars they were giving and getting. Pricing at MSRP with a couple of port installed options I don’t mind. I got a full vin# that I can pull up in the Lexus app, although since it’s not registered to me I can’t see where it is or any of those details. Just the specs.
It was supposed to be here at the local dealer 3/24 or so.
I got a call 3/21 that it wasn’t coming until “next month hopefully 3 weeks or less.”
I asked if it’s built or allocated or what. Salesman said…” It’s in transit. It’s your car. I’m as frustrated as you are and we have to be patient. We don’t really understand what’s going on either. “
Any clue based on your experience on what all that means? I assumed it meant the allotments didn’t come and they just didn’t want to tell me. The dealer here is locally owned and has a great reputation. I’m not worried about my deposit or any of that. Just wondering if the car is really coming or if I should start over with a new search, different car or put my name on more lists.

^^ if it was due to arrive at the dealer theses days, it means it's probably build since a lil while and at the port waiting to get stuff installed on and shipped to dealer. They maybe have a backlog at port installations or are prioritising other models, but to me it's pretty clear the car has landed on the continent.

Canadian here and I deal with one of the larger dealerships on the west coast. I was told they're not getting units for the rest of the year beyond the 2 units they received since launch.
Edit: missed a word.

hahaha all good. Year, wow. Not sure how true that is. Sometimes dealers exaggerate to make you feel pressured to buy what they have, but if that wasn’t your case it could be true then. Plus a lot of dealers are starting to say the same thing...

I was there for service and was catching up with management on the latest inventory situation when they brought this up. I know the whole team quite well so I believe what they're telling me, plus they know there's nothing on their lot I want right now .

^^ I believe it - For starters, on the Canadian website, even Lexus has had a disclaimer stating "Limited availability" on top of the fact that Canada is already a smaller market and likely has a lot less allocated vehicles than the US. Throw in the fact that all the chip shortage and supply issues and production adjustments, I can see why Lexus wants to focus on the SUVs and such, over an IS 500 that is somewhat of a niche product.
