Sales tax in NY (where it was bought and sold) is 4% on cars, so about $72-73k. If the used car place is asking $79,900, there is room for profit for both parties.

Either way, it's adding to my personal gripe where I couldn't find a reasonable offer on it new, even more so used.

Hopefully this site is as organized as the corvette website. I am looking for dealerships in PA or any surrounding states to get an allocation for an IS500. I am also not willing to pay over sticker. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Looking for a new is500 has as close to zero percent chance as it can be. Orders are not being taken yet for 2023/24. There are used ones out there but again that is well over sticker . Good luck in your search. I hope you find one.

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately you're like 6 months too late, or 2 years too early, depending on how you look at it.

Welcome. I joined the site not too long ago with the same pursuit as you. Found out you can't order the car but instead must get in line at a dealer for the allocations they receive. Some dealers ask for deposits, some don't. I'm on 3 dealer lists, 2 in GA, 1 in VA, for a premium Grecian Water blue on black at MSRP. I also have 2 dealers that are to call me if they receive a C8 where the original buyer backed out (less likely).

As one of the few members here without an IS500, I can tell you the market in your area was awful even when they were actually available. Markups all over the place, very limited inventory. As of now, nobody knows when or if the IS500 will be coming in. Plenty dealers now are saying "no markups" when/if it comes back, but even Hyundais are getting markups now. We won't know anything until they announce the next MY.

Welcome!!

I check in with my salesman (Shannon Brown @ Eskridge Lexus OKC) periodically to get a pulse on the inventory. Sent him a text yesterday and he said:

”Not one IS 500 in the USA currently.”
”They aren’t making any.”
”You got lucky.”

Good luck on your search! I’m TeamMSRP too. 👍🏽

^^ I echo what you said, a brand new 2022 IS 500 will not happen as we wait for the 2023's now and while I don't expect available units to be in large quantity, I do expect that some will be available. So hoping people like Kanpai & jkstew1 can put their hand on such an amazing vehicle. I am curious what Lexus Canada will do for 2023. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to drop it from their lineup. for example, we used to have IS 350 RWD available in Canada but their product planning team decided to drop these back in 2016 and now, pretty much all you have in Canada are AWDs (with the exception of the 4 cylinder IS 300). To be honest, I am still shocked that they accepted to bring the 500 to Canada given our market and weather but glad they did TBH.

Are there any official sale (unit) numbers for the IS500? Sad I missed the the opportunity and just curious to see how few are out there

Nothing official. Probably about 1000. Subtract the ones without a separating front apron or a faulty exhaust gasket, and probably about 100 that were built correctly.

Edit: In defense of Lexus, no manufacturer is building cars correctly now. Everyone is cutting costs. Bad time to buy.

this is purely conjecture, but it seems only about 1,000 total units are even out there.

So 500 Launch Editions and 500 Premium (assuming not too many base models were produced)? With those numbers, the limited Launch Edition does not seem so limited... (smile)

I personally think it's even fewer the 500 premiums just based on the high ratio of Launch Editions available as used. Maybe they come back in 2023 with more Premiums and Base models and bring a fix to every issue. That will certainly kick our early adopter @$$es.

Every day I'm finding more and more ways Lexus started cutting corners in 2021. First, no more soft-open/close side windows. Now I just noticed they changed the radio buttons from operating your PRESETS to now scanning. Gotta be chip shortage-related.

I seriously doubt any base model made it to our shores. The closest thing to a base would be some of the press cars, as a few were missing a few things. I think it was just the LE and Premiums.
