The V8 is back: IS 500 F SPORT Performance. Part 2 2022 Sales & Delivery Discussions

This car being so limited makes me want to sell it. The last time I had a limited run can I got in a minor fender bender and they were talking about totaling it for a $25 bracket that was unavailable.

But what always stops me is, despite its few issues, it’s really a fantastic car and so special. Driving it is such a joy...

Welcome!!
I check in with my salesman (Shannon Brown @ Eskridge Lexus OKC) periodically to get a pulse on the inventory. Sent him a text yesterday and he said:
”Not one IS 500 in the USA currently.”
”They aren’t making any.”
”You got lucky.”
Good luck on your search! I’m TeamMSRP too. 👍🏽

Sorry if it has been asked before, but since production for 2022 is long over and I assume that all new 2022 models are sold, what are the final production numbers or sales numbers for US and Canadian markets?
And when should we hear about 2023 model availability and model changes?

As far as 2023 goes, there hasn't been any official press about it. With FY2023 two months away, I would expect something before then. Other car companies are shifting to MY2023 (Ford, Hyundai, Dodge, Jeep, some Lexus models), and I thoroughly expect dealers to be in the dark until a good month after info comes out to the public. I would be surprised to see models actually hit the showrooms before 2023.

Also in the market for an IS500 which appears to be sold out until fall or when the 2023s actually surface. For those on the hunt, do I reach out to dealers ahead of time to get on a wait list or what? I’m against paying more than msrp too. Maybe wishful thinking.
any insight, please share.

1. Talk to any dealer within a radius that you would deem reasonable. Some folks even flew out to a dealer to get them. Some take deposits, some don't.
2. Dealers will lie. Some will add markups, some won't then will, some will then won't. They likely don't care about you and only want to make money.
3. You can't custom order. It's the luck of the draw when it color combos, so if you have a specific color combo in mind, you better have a large radius.
4. Nobody has any idea on how many will be made. I was "the next allocation" on 4 dealers when everything stopped. As we all know, those cars never came. So if you NEED this car, get on it early.
Good luck to you and hope you get the car you want.

^^ words of wisdom spoken right there!!! Kanpai, I truly hope you will be able to get your hand on one and while there are some "issues" with the car, it doesn't take away the fact that it is an amazing car and such a blast to drive!

Does anyone know if there's a lock button on the 2021/22 IS trunk on the outside of the trunk (typically located somewhere adjacent to the underside button that opens the trunk) that would lock the trunk & doors? Toyota/Lexus hatchbacks have this button. I would like to lock the car/trunk from the outside without having to dig for my keys or walk back to the front of the car and press the door handle.
I scoured the IS500 manual pages 94+ and there's no mention of this button anywhere, so @TipsyTonio can't rag on me for not reading the manual.
See attachment of CT200h which has a lock button on the "back door:"
