At the time of my purchase, Lexus had not made any announcement about a 2023 model and used IS500s were averaging around $80K. It is no wonder that people are flipping their cars. I am so happy with my IS500. I am an old hot rodder and it’s all about the V8.
Very soon after the announcement of the 2022 IS500, Lexus executives have explicitly told auto media that the latest facelift IS will last for 4 model years including the IS500, so we are 100% sure there will be 2022, 2023 and 2024 IS500.

And if they follow through on that promise I'm sure people will start to be able to more easily get them at MSRP or possibly under if you are a silver tongue or have a good relationship with a dealership.

I am curious about the true demand for IS500, since many buyers put their name in multiple waiting lists from different dealerships, so there are lots of duplication.

And before IS500 reached market, there was already the RC-F available with MSRP only a couple thousand dollars more. Before the chip shortage chaos, the RC-F can be bought with significant discount (I see people in 2019 was able to negotiate the price down to mid to high $50k). So from my point of view if pricing is the main driving factor for IS500, those people should have already been able to buy the RC-F. Not sure how many of the IS500 owner is also RC-F owner?

That's exactly it though, the global market has changed. You can't buy a lot of vehicles off the lot anymore, so that has driven prices up.

My dad's girlfriend is getting a Honda CRV, so nothing fancy. She picked it in August, and it's gonna be November before it shows up. If she went with a Toyota RAV4, the wait time could have been 18 months. If you need/really want a particular car now, not in 3+ months, you gotta pay a premium for a used one.

I came across a website that was put up by someone in another thread and found it worth sharing.
Toyota Tracker (toyota-tracker.com)
You can track the status of your vehicle as it essentially sources the information from Dealer Daily and it seems to be accurate. It is however missing showing GT status which happens between 24-48 hours before the car shows up to the dealer and stands for Ground Transport (it means your car is getting ready to be transported to the dealer by truck). Regardless, a very helpful tool to have for those of you that are in the blind about your cars.

Unfortunately, it says my VIN is either invalid or has since changed. The suspense is killing meeeee

Right! LOL! It’s a misnomer to say these cars are invisible.
