It appears that Toyota it is suspending 25% of its production lines through June to prevent the disruptive starting/stopping of those lines. I also heard they are contemplating discontinuing some 2022 models completely (especially certain Lexus models) to accumulate chips and reintroducing them later in the summer/fall as 2023 models. Unfortunately rumor is that my 2022 IS 500 (ordered last August) may be one of those discontinued 2022 models to resurface as a 2023 model. Additionally, they indicated that the war in Ukraine may cause further production cuts as it was not yet factored into their current shutdown plans. Interesting, I noticed that many newer cars making it out of the factory are white leading me to think that this may in part be because of the increased cost and short supply of some pigments.

I just read this from (https://www.rdforum.org) "Toyota/Lexus Shuts 7 Of It's 28 Production Lines Thru June", which is probably just a rehash of what others previously discovered. I have been searching for any additional information available to try to get a feel for my position. I also sent a message last week to Hennessy Lexus Atlanta asking their take on the production news but haven't received a reply. (funny, they responded within the hour when pursuing my Amex deposit)

Taking a larger step back, they're cutting production from 750,000 units globally to 150,000 units globally (a 20% yield). Yet they're only closed for 23 days across 7 production lines. There are 210 possible "production slots" (7 production lines x 30 days a month) and they're closed for 23 of those slots, which leaves them open on 187 out of 210 slots or at 89%. So 20% yield on operating at 89% capacity. Again, it doesnt add up.

I don't quite understand. They close production on the IS for 2 days in April and 1 day in May, and that's supposed to spell the end of the 2022 IS500? ![Uhh...](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/1387914497.gif)

"Based on the above, our global production plan for April including overseas production is approximately 750,000 units (250,000 units in Japan and 500,000 units overseas)."

I got the inside scoop that sadly one of the BlueCrew members may be out of commission after an accident where someone ran a red light. This and more on the ClubLexus news at 11PM

^^ I am happy no injuries are reported however, I always hate seeing one of our beloved 500 get damaged! What is it with idiots running red lights, like seriously!

This is my biggest fear, especially in Atlanta. It’s like something switched and people think red lights are just a suggestion. Or worse, a weird version of the 3 Second Rule. If it’s a 4-way light, I’ve started to wait a second or two and look both ways before going.
I am so glad he’s okay! 💙

^^ I hear ya, where I live, I am more worried about a deer or a moose making an unexpected decision to dart across the road.

re: ATL, what is it with this area lately? 4-way stops must be a foreign concept to a lot of these drivers - they're worse than roundabouts now! I live over in Gwinnett, and it's mostly chill but I always dread stop signs when it's busy out.
