I shared the news about MY 2022 with my salesperson at McGrath Lexus and she said they have 3 cars available for sale. Their Acura dealer across the street has cars so this is a Lexus thing.

Not sure why their supply chain and labor force has been so badly mis-managed, but that is the bottom line. Hopefully Lexus can come back strong for 2023.

That's the same dealer that has my Amex card for a IS 500 deposit. Last word from Brandon in sales was that Daniel Yim assured him the 2022 IS500 was still in production. His wording in the text dated 4-19-22 was a bit vague >

"when I last connected with our inventory manager he assured me they are still building IS500's"

I can't find any new IS500's in transit to any dealers so it feels like the comment about all IS500's being converted to lesser IS models may be true. Who knows?

If I gave him the benefit of the doubt, I'd say maybe he's just trying to say there will be more years of IS 500 to come. It has been previously confirmed that there's a 4-year cycle for the IS 500.

I could see that being implied while at the same time not directly getting me an answer on my hopes for a 2022 model - probably avoiding any reply that could possibly send my off looking at alternative vehicles.

My inside person said there is none being built. They normally get a temporary vin assigned to a vehicle that is being built, but there is none for the IS 500.

I actually had a partial VIN assigned about six weeks ago but then all IS 500s slated for May/June builds were unilaterally ‘converted’ to regular IS 300s (this directly from Lexus corporate) about 2.5 weeks ago, so my wait for a replacement continues. What makes me feel okay is that I was told it’d be no issue if the replacement ends up being a 2023 model IS 500 vs my 2022.

So they are telling you that the converted vins to IS 300's may at some point become an IS 500 but just a 2023 MY. My dealership who has always been in the know, says they show no 500's being built and all production of those vehicle's has stopped.

I didn't read his post that way, rather just that he wouldn't get a 2022 IS500 but instead a 2023 IS500 when production of them resumes, without any reference to his particular VIN assignment or not.

Ya two separate thoughts poorly written on my part. Apparently Lexus converted all the May/June IS500 builds to IS300s. If they even built any of those 300s who knows, but that’s what I was told.

Separately I did get assurances that if a replacement 2022 wasn’t available then they’d get a ‘23 in my driveway. Originally the replacement was due in April/May but now it’s looking like Aug/Sept at best which would put us right against the 2023s.

So i found out today from my source because someone on her end finally did some inquiring at a higher level. I was told they can't get a part having to do with the fuel pump. She said a few months on this issue.

Thanks, that’s interesting. Is the fuel pump different for the IS500? Same one as the RC F and LC500?

the interesting thing about this whole thread, is based on demand, even in the 2023 MY the IS 500 will still be a hot commodity. Excitement will rev up as builds begin.

on another note my local Lexus dealer has 71 cars in stock and every single one on the website says “purchase pending”

So what does that even mean? They have thousands of 500s sitting on the line waiting for this special fuel pump part?

I doubt it. If you recall, Toyota’s manufacturing philosophy is to build everything at same time in order to waste zero time and space.
