So all the dealers I was working with in the past have said they'll be doing MSRP going forward, for a total of 4. Whether they honor that, I guess we'll have to see.

Ya we’re still very much on the fence about keeping it. As mentioned, they’ve verbally said on multiple occasions that they’d keep open the offer to buy it back as well as add extended warranty coverage. But they remain very unwilling to put the buyback portion of the offer in writing, instead the only thing I’ve got in writing is “Lexus retains all legal rights under state & federal law” … which is about as warm & fuzzy as 20grit sandpaper workout shorts.

Glad you had a good experience with getting your ‘06 IS350 fixed. But after the nightmare fights we had throughout 2007 & 2008 regarding the unintended acceleration issue of my ‘07 IS350 we’re definitely unwilling to move forward without at least the basics jotted down on paper.

Separately, two weeks ago Lexus Corporate mentioned on the phone that there’d be no 2023 IS500s at all (previously they just said there were none scheduled for at least the 1st half production run of 2023 models).

Again the people I’m talking to regarding the buyback/replacement seem to be limited to looking at 6 month manufacturing look aheads rather than longer term corporate product planning documents, so if they’re telling the truth it doesn’t mean very late 2023 or 2024 IS500s are off the table.

But I did find it interesting that last week they separately told my local Lexus dealership there’d be no 2023 IS500s (they had called to get authorization regarding certain repairs and were similarly curious as to what’s going on with future IS500s).

Given the IS500 is kinda a Lexus North America one-off frankenchild that has had some annoying hiccups, I wonder if Lexus Japan is just thinking “we’ll guys, you had your chance, but we’re closing the book on this little experiment.”

Mike Forsythe on facebook says the IS500 is coming back, but your conversations with Lexus Corporate is nothing short of riveting. I don't know what to believe. If it comes back I bet it'll be in even smaller number, like 2024 IS F status (qty: 86). Keep us updated.

Agreed. Wish someone knew definitively. I’m just parroting what I’m being told, and I desperately want them to resume production big time as it’d mean a replacement for me (with a VIN novation to my current 1.72% 72mo financing contract) rather than a buyback and financing the next car at 3x the interest rate.

I am sort of 50/50 on this rumor, on one hand i find hard for them to kyboch a brand new model with all the hype when they released it, but that being said, i know the part shortage and such, there is also some logic for them to also ditch or be in very very limited quantities. That is why i can breath a sigh of relief knowing i have one especially here in Canada because if there is one place i could see ditching the 2023s would be here.

We will find out in a few months i guess...

Me as well!!! Don't know what to do when my GS lease ends next year...I was considering the IS 500, can't afford the LS/LC, and need more performance from the IS 350.

A used LS isn't that bad anymore. The local dealer had a 2019 with 35k miles on it for $57k. They're just really big cars... my mom's LS just barely fits in my garage, I can barely walk in front of it to get out lol

Getting word that Lexus North America might be able to order my replacement IS500 as a '23 model after all. Gone thru this process before so we'll see how it ends up playing out, but I am much more optimistic we'll be seeing '23 model year IS 500s after all. Would obviously be very odd if the IS500 is newly released in Japan for 2023 but sales are not resumed in North America (given all the hype about this being a North America driven product).

I am really happy they'll make it available for all the folks who couldn't their hands on one (looking at you Kanpai) - This also increase our chances that a fix for the front apron will be solved
