If it is simply a clip specification being out of whack, that can easily be corrected, and replacement parts made available to the dealer for a quick repair. Mine is still holding out fine, there was a very minor gap from the get-go but it has never expanded or gotten worse. I am hoping though that they will find the cause and make the revised part available. This should be a quick fix IMO

What did I say again? "The simplest answer is probably the right one"? Yeah.

This is all such good news for current and future IS 500 owners. And to think it's just a tiny plastic part. I feel confident something that serves as a permanent fix will be available once we have an official TSB created.

Alex called it! 😜

Hopefully we can move this item to the Done-N-Done list.

^^ What is next on your "done and done"?! Wthrman2 and Carolina? (lol)

I agree - it would be so amazing to have a closure on this - something very trivial as a plastic clip than can have such a visible negative impact on some is unacceptable but should be easily fixable, especially now that they are aware of the issue.

Done with you two? Are you kidding, never!

Seriously, although it hasn’t happened to anyone yet, I had visions of bumpers falling off on the highway. ::shudder::

1. Sensor/Gasket issue - I don’t think a TSB has been submitted, but at this point everyone knows what to do if it arises.

2. Front Apron - Maybe we’ll see a TSB soon.

3. Fuel Pump - I don’t know too much about this issue, but I got the sense it affected all models?

Is there anything else?

^^ Those are the known issues are far as I am concerned.

1. The CEL errors are not being reported lately so I think (hopefully) that this is done for now
2. Fingers crossed
3. I am only aware on 1 case on this that I recall seeing

Otherwise, I think this car is solid which is good - I have seen a few messages about the brakes but I am not sure if it is an isolated case or simply an owner's handling? I am not going to deny the brakes could be more "assertive" on this car but it has never failed me at doing the necessary stop and no vibrations reported but they feel a bit soft. The wife has a Corolla and the brakes feel they have more bite if that makes sense.

Knowing some people may not have first hand experience, I managed to get more official doc and data and revised my analysis here. In it you will see Lexus actually downgraded some areas of the 2021+ models.

Previously some owners had gone over the lengthy and repetitive process of changing clips/new bumper again and again to no avail (quote: "because it would only be a matter of time until the bumper tabs ripped through again."), so finally they needed to use a "brute force" fix at that extent to force the bumper to stay with the fender:

There is no fundamental changes to the front structure between the current gen and last gen of the IS.
Great article! As a former BRZ owner I know this issue well and we BRZ/86 owners know our car has a soft frontend, on the ft86club there was also an owner who did spirited driving even had 3-4 spot weld points near the strut tower torn apart. The solution Subaru finally gave us is kind of a hit or miss. After applying the TSB the bracket stays strong but now it is the claw's turn to suffer from the rubbing. So although my BRZ bumper is not sagging that much now, it still gradually develops a noticeable wider gap in the front. Anyway here is the Subaru TSB:

By the way being the same car, Subaru did acknowledge and admit the issue although it took them 5 years to do so; but Toyota never said or did anything to help us at all.

BAHAHAHA. Nice Dave.

No rookie comes in swinging with Subaru Service Bulletin attachments. Hilarious.

I mean if you want to promote your website. Fine. Just be upfront about it. But to go to these lengths is just ridiculous.

I mean honestly, even if he had something relevant to say, I wouldn’t listen just because.

In my best Southern voice: “So unsavory.” 🤮

Default Any progress?

Has anybody gotten their bumper fixed?
I have gone to the dealer 3 times including once to replace the clips. No good popped back out immediately.
I called and sent pics to Lgec@lexus.com as directed here. A case number was started and the brand adviser looked into it, made calls to the dealers, etc and told me that corp was aware of the issue and is working on a solution to give them a few weeks and they will get back to me. Almost month has gone by so I called only to find out my case number is closed...WTF
