Front Apron Separation?
#107
Took mine in last week to get this addressed, but unfortunately the body shop manager was out on vacation so I’ll have to take it back in again this week. Seems the body shop manager’s guidance/approval is needed to decide between a rigged fix (clip replacement, glue, etc) or what seems like the more permanent fix (replace the entire bumper with one that doesn’t have the manufacturing defect).
They did say it’d take at least one month to get a replacement front bumper cover if that’s the repair route they have to take.
So has anyone had a permanent fix to this issue beyond super glue & crossed fingers ???

Especially for the money we paid its Either they find the part that is required or I expect a complete bumper replacement.
I might loose my precious PPF bumper but I care more about the safety, longevity and peace of mind.
At this point I expect lexus to provide us extended warranty for these average quality bumpers.
I expect these might sag again in long run.

To be honest, I expect that Lexus will do what is right once they identify the root cause of the problem. I just don't see Lexus applying duck tape or crazy glue as a fix. They'll likely take the time to analyze what is teh root cause, the bumper, the clip, the assembly process, the heat and then apply the proper correction. TBH, attaching a bumper to a car and expecting to have it hold in place is basic car assembly 101. Sure, sometime something goes wrong but it is not rocket science and they'll fix whatever the issue is once they properly determine teh cause. They'll need a few more cars to see the pattern and then apply the fix. I'd be more worried if it was a software or something like that but heck, even Lada's bumpers are known to stay in place, surely Lexus can figure this out.

Lada? Dude you went way deep into the Car Enthusiast bag! Hell…throw a Trabant in there for good measure. 😂

Alright Guys,
This is what I got from the second time trying to get this bumper fixed at the second dealership for this issue.
I just picked up my car from the dealership today. This is what the body shop manager updated me:
They removed the whole bumper to see what was causing the issue. what they found was that the placement of the driver side headlight was little off when compared to the passenger side which can explain more gap that we are observing with these cars. I think this might be some assembly line error,
They tried adjusting the bumper and also drove the car 4miles on local roads for testing.
I tested it on local roads and it was holding good.
So I used free way to drive my car back and the freaking issue came back and its much worse now.
At this point I'm done being Guinea pig for resolving this issue with Lexus corporate.
The dealer says removing the bumper multiple times can cause the clips to wear off requiring new bumper down the line.
I expect Lexus take this serious and send the FTS or whoever are required to resolve this issue.
Hope someone can find the cause of the issue at this point or get this escalated to Lexus corporate.
Wish this input gave some information to my peer IS owner.
Nobody should suffer this with a brand new $70k vehicle.
I have also attached my service notes just for reference:
My second dealer and service
My first dealer and service on this issue
Good luck

OMG I can't believe they tried to say it's the headlight. It clearly doesn't align with the fender, that has nothing to do with the headlight. I'm going to point mine out when I take it in, make them document that it's an issue from the start in case it does get worse.

This doesn’t happen on IS350 cars and the front bumper assembly attachments should be the same. Has anyone having issues asked about that or looked into it?

So high speeds induce/worsen it. That’s valuable info. Keep learning. Thanks for the update.
