Wow, well-timed post !!! I noticed this yesterday on mine for the first time too. Pic is after finagling it back a bit, the gap near the headlight was about 2x wider earlier today.
For me, it seems the separation started after using the car for its first long highway trip last Friday. The trip also involved a couple of (much) higher speed overtakings of slower moving cars.
Wondering if others first saw the problem after taking similar trips? Maybe prolonged exposure to the stresses of high speeds - or brief exposure to even higher speeds - leads to the separation?? Just an idea as didn’t notice it at all for first 3k miles of almost exclusive city usage, and this is the kind of thing that I notice immediately.
Is it happening on one particular side only?
Is it always reversible by pushing it back in?
I wonder if it’s related to the heat of the engine.
I do notice some unusual things in the interior of my car related to heat I’m not sure if normal or not:
-When I turn on the fan (not the AC) it blows warm air even after several minutes of running. My previous cars all used to blow slightly cool air often making it possible to avoid using the AC in many situations.
- The entire soft touch front dash area is super hot after highway driving compared to the same material on the front door. I’m not sure if this is because I have tinted side windows and not a tinted windshield.

So far I’ve only seen where the driver’s side is mentioned. A few have pushed it back up, others took it to Lexus to address. For some, it seemed to shift back down.
The car seems to generate a crap ton of heat, but I figured it was due to the V8 itself. The only issue I’ve seen to date on mine is a weak key fob response. For my previous cars, I could point the fob to the moon and the car would acknowledge it. I have to stop and verify the lights blink to ensure it’s locked.
I checked mine again and I thought I saw some separation but I think it’s just psychological. I took a photo of each side from the same angle as much as I could, and honestly can’t see a difference yet. It’s funny David from Automotive Press always touts how narrow the panel gaps are on Lexus. He has an IS500. Someone please get his weigh-in.
