Default Virginia Beach IS500 on lot

I was in VB on business this week and thought I'd pop into the dealership to make sure I was still on their allocation list.

They didn't gave anyone on their list (so now I'm on it).

they had a 2022 IS500 on their lot, 800 miles, red on black, sold to dealership by owner to upgrade to LC500. Their price is $79K.

Not what I'd pay nor my color.

The 2 salesmen I spoke with had completely different views on the future of the IS500. One said he thought they'd eventually resume production for 2023, the other said the 2023 IS would be getting the TTV6.

Both said Lexus corporate was providing zero info on the true condition of the situation so both of them were just stating their opinions.

This dealer confirmed they WERE adding market adjustments to their pricing.

Very interesting, but I just don’t see Lexus making any engine changes to the IS500 when in Japan it’s already been advertised as a N.A V8/472HP/395TQ for the JDM market ‘23 model year over there just recently. They would also have to rename it the “IS600” or something like that if they do. What I have heard from a few people already is that the ‘23 IS500 MY will be getting the ‘22 NX’s refreshed center console which if true, would make it the best looking interior for a sports sedan in this segment at this price point imo. I suppose it could work seeing as the NX looks to be roughly the same width as the IS in the interior and all it would take, assuming the width, the A/C vents are compatible and retention clips are the same, is a little re-wiring of the backend panels and viola… which I don’t see Lexus doing either, but these are different times so who really knows. But I wouldn’t get my hopes up on any of these changes as they’re just fan made rumors. What I can say for almost certain though, is that they will be starting up production again which is a big sigh of relief because I’m still on the list for one myself lol.

^^ I agree with you that I just don't see the IS 500 losing the V8 for the exact same reason you stated. If the interior does change as you have suggested based on what you heard, it will make me super happy I have bought the 2022 MY as I am not a fan of the NX screen and lay out but I know everyone is different and have their reasons why they like or don't like something.

Will be interesting to see what comes out in the fall - All I know is that regardless of what comes down the pipe, it will be still be an amazing car but in very limited supplies.

Thanks for the post. At the very least, this shows the uncertainty of any future IS 500 models even at the dealership level (at this point, I am not certain the 'base' model will ever materialize). Then again, Lexus' distribution practices tend to keep its dealerships in the dark with respect to vehicle allotments until shortly before delivery.

I wonder if it is truly a "base" or not. I've never seen one before. It says it has "Memory Settings -inc: Driver Seat, Door Mirrors and Steering Wheel", so probably a Premium. Silly dealer listing.

It's this one:

And if this is a base model then Kenny Vacek is a straight man. Jk I enjoy his sales videos.

Saw a rear sunshade - nope, not a base model.

It may seem silly to have in this kind of vehicle, but hey, I don't hate having a sun shade. I kinda want one actually.

Aaaand it's $80,000 lol

That LE selling on Cars and Bids was TRULY the exception in this market and the buyer got super lucky.

I'll patiently wait for my MY23. IF IT WILL EXIST

That seller on Cars and Bids was a darn fool for not setting a higher reserve.

Part of me agrees; I'd love to get top dollar for a car I sold.

Part of me finds it really refreshing to see someone NOT try to just make a profit on a car because they can. This market has me so jaded on cars. Those car auction sites are even worse. "REALLY want to keep this car with 12 miles on it, but I just don't like it! Ignore that I went through the trouble of paying tax, title, registration, insurance, and possibly financing when I could have just turned the car away at delivery. Definitely NOT trying to make a quick buck at the expense of people who really want this car"

The buyer's opinion of the price is irrelevant if the seller is finding buyers who are willing to pay the asking price. We've seen this many times on this forum. Someone posts how overpriced the cars are, but then laments missing a deal because they were unwilling to pay what someone else paid. Simple market arithmetic.
