Default Remote Range

Out of curiosity, what kind of 'range' are others experiencing with their keyless entry remote? I have to be within about 15 feet to have any hope of locking or unlocking the car, and even closer to do the three click & hold 'remote start' function. Too often I'm having to walk back to within a parking space to make sure the doors are locked. This is a frustrating step backwards as the remote on my older GX470 can unlock & lower the windows from hundreds of feet away, same with other Toyota/Lexus products that I've owned. Wondering if other IS models have similar issues, guessing they have to.

The Lexus app is okay but the car's internal cell coverage is pretty pathetic ... it rarely works even when the car is parked outside our house (where other cell products work just fine).

No issue. My remote can penetrate multiple walls and 2-stories in my house to lock and unlock my car in the garage. Total distance is probably >50 feet. In fact I'm thinking of getting a carbon fiber key fob cover just to reduce the signal strength. That way in case I'm mugged in a sketchy parking area the thief can't find my car as fast.

Mine is similar to Jororo's, it's a weaker signal than my Camry too. I've just been using the app to remote start it rather than the three clicks. Not a deal breaker, but it is kind of strange. Tried both the fobs they gave me, both are about the same strength.

Mine is not strong either but can't recall if my 2021 IS 350 was better or not. It is far weaker than my RC (2019) and the wife's Corolla or our little Spark. It is not a huge issue because I rarely lock my car or when I do, I use the door handle.

Are they in the key glove?

one of mine is pretty weak. I haven't tried the other fob. it's not going to matter if the glove is on. there's not (if any) rf absorbent material or interference in a pleather glove.

I have the low range issue too. I thought it was a battery in the key fob issue (which normally would be correct assumption) but they wouldn’t give you a key fob with low battery right?

^^ I am going to try the other fob just for fun - If it's only one fob, either something drained the battery or they used a cheaper supplier during COVID and supply chain issues.

Mine is also pretty short in range, but it's similar to my 2015 and 2018 IS that I previously owned, so I'd say it's an IS thing!

Funny thing…. Hold the key fob under your chin and use it, range will be greatly increased. I thought this was a joke but it works, something to do with the fluid in your head, lol.

Do you point the remote up like you're blowing your head off, or forward? Serious question LOL.

Yep, Can confirm to the chin helps with range. But don't blow your head off.

Wow mine sucks in comparison, the 2022 seem to have really bad range on the fobs
