I have never had my car auto upshift from 1-2 but I've never been late on that shift. If it isn't 100% safe to watch the RPM I will short shift 1-2 instead. I have hit the Rev limiter in other gears, but never lit it sit there for a full second though. It's usually just a hair late so it might bounce 2-3 before the shift goes through. It will shift pretty damn hard from 2-3 as well when you're at max RPM.
Same with you guys, haven’t had mine upshift either. Went for a drive this morning and meant to test it out to be doubly sure and forgot. I’ve hit 6K miles, time to order my Pilot Sport 4S’!! I’ve been responsible long enough.

Yeah I have never seen mine turn red like that, but mine turns orange at like 5k RPM.

I was reading the comments of the video and they’re saying it’s the LC500, not the IS500

Yeah that’s not an IS500. The gear setup in the rpm gauge is in the LC500.

The ring does turn red in the IS500 but only when you force it to stay in gear further than when it wants to shift (manual).

2015 is350 bounces off the limiter, but you have to turn off trac/stability control for that and be in a manual mode.

this is gonna sound dumb but how do I actually rev it out? I put it in sport mode and put it in park and I feel its holding back.

I guess how to rev like this

Is there a way to rev while driving? like I shift to neutral rev a bit then go back to drive.

I am not sure what to tell you. You can rev in Park or in Neutral (obviously Park being the preferred option). Can you explain what you mean by holding back?

Please explain by holding back. The only time I've ever felt it "hold back" is whenever I shift it into neutral. Sometimes it hits redline and sometimes it only goes as high as 4k-5k rpm. Whenever I'm in park, it never has a has an issue hitting redline, unless i press the pedal multiple times.

If the car is fully warned up, it can be revved to the red line. (If I understand the question.)

Oh yah sometimes after redlining it won’t let me get back to redline like it stops at 5k but I looked back and I realize my oil wasn’t at the half way point for temp. I was looking at the right temp gauge instead of the left.

So, if the car isn't fully warned up yet, the redline will be lower. For example:

Here, it's not even going to let me rev above 3800 RPM!

This is just to protect the engine from damage when cold. Not sure if that's what you're seeing.

Come to think of it, I don't think I ever saw the face turn orange even when I go past 5k+

Mine turns orange for sure. Maybe the Canadian cars don't?
