Have you test driven an IS500 or are you a previous IS300/350 owner? If the answer is no to both then that's where it begins for some buyers' unhappiness. The car's marketing last year was all wrong. Showing that stunning Infrared IS500 sliding all over a track is not what this car is intended. It's a Grand Touring cruiser.

Your results may vary but you need to resist comparing it to anything else in the market, because especially at this price point it loses on performance specs. But it's the final celebration of normally aspirated goodness that Lexus' V8 lives on - that is what should draw you in.

How many year cycle is the 21 refresh supposed to have again? Currently we are going to get 2023 models so when is the last model year supposed to be? 2023? 2024?

I don't think bright orange fits the grand tourer characteristics of the car. If Lexus gave us a Nori Green IS500, that'd be a different story.

I like bright unique colors since every luxury car’s color palette is gray, silver, white, black, another gray, another gray, another silver, and another silver. But I didn’t know Special Appearance was an extra $3500 when I first posted so it’s not as much a deal over the LE as I originally thought. I guess could think of it like a $1000 paint choice with mandatory BBS wheels. Meh.

I agree that bright colors would suit this car really well. Despite me only having owned black cars in my life, there's a soft spot in my heart for colors such as Plum Crazy Purple, HellRaisin, M Individual Twilight Purple, Crush Orange, etc. To me they are playful colors that make their respective cars pop more. However, I also see the counterarguments of some in that the IS500 is a sleeper / grand tourer, and a bright *** color draws way too much attention for a car like that. While I get why they used Molten Pearl (since it was used for their performance RC F and GS F) I personally do believe that Cadmium Orange would've actually suited the character of the car a bit better.

I wish. The Mrs nearly had a heart attack when I jokingly told her I had given a deposit on a car to replace my 9 month old car lol. Who knows, it may just magically appear in the driveway one day. I hope ClubLexus can cover my funeral though

I think you'll find that some people on here talk out of their... Tailpipe when it comes to who got "played" or "ripped off" with Launch Edition. Classic sour grapes rationalization of those who spent $3-4K less (which is perfectly fine). I'm certainly not crying about $3K on an already moderately expensive car.

This guy on instagram has a molten pearl GS F I believe, if you want to see what MP looks like on a Lexus sedan. It doesn't look very creamsicle but I think he darkens his photos a bit with a filter.

Same, I feel like if you can't afford to spend +5k for a car that's 63k maybe you shouldn't be buying it at all. Nothing wrong with not spending that, but if that's going to make or break you, why bother? The gas and maintenance is gonna cost way more in the long run.

I absolutely loved my ‘16 350 FSport, but it cannot hold a candle to my IS 500. You cannot keep your butt out of this thing, you’ll want to cruise, floor it, cruise, and floor it some more. It’s that good. If you have the opportunity, run don’t walk to one. If you love your ‘17, you’ll covet this one. Promise. 😎
