I see literally no protection at all for the customer by not reporting a service performed.
I could see how they would protect a customer by not reporting a quality issue such as peeling paint, because that could look bad to someone who's interested in buying your car, but an oil change should definitely be reported. It's the good type of service visit.

^^ Even if Oil changes aren't reported just keep the invoice receipts that's what I do for all of my cars. I keep paper copy of service visits in a folder.

Oh trust me, I have a neat little binder with a bunch of tabs with EVERYTHING sorted in there for my car. The goal is to give that to the next owner whenever I sell the car in a decade. I just have the feeling that a dealer will quickly glance at the vehicle's Carfax when determining a trade in value, and having no service history on the report will likely affect their trade in offer.

I agree with the others, get on multiple lists where actual money is deposited. From March 2021 - Fall 2021, I ended up on 3 Atlanta lists at $1000 each. (Hennessy Atlanta, Roswell, and Butler.) Wound up buying the car out of State in March 2022 and the deposits were returned with no fuss.

I want to emphasize items 3 & 4 on Mac’s list. I was literally sitting on the couch at 6:45pm scrolling through CL. Saw a post with my spec in Oklahoma City with a contact number. Called the sales rep at 6:50pm, filled out the emailed deposit form, it was processed the next morning, and I flew out the next day.

The guy who ordered the car completed his test drive minutes before I called. Told the rep he wanted to think about it and since he didn’t have a deposit, I was able to swoop in.

Be. Ready. 😎

3. Have a travel bag ready. A plane ticket may cost less than a local dealer's markup.

4. Be on this forum all the time when they start landing. Some of us post availability for fun and the difference between you getting the car or not could be a couple of minutes.

Yep. Follow this advice. Best part of buying out of area is by the time you get home you’ve finished most/all of the break-in miles. I was shocked to get just under 30mpg on my way back … haven’t sniffed that since.

LOL!! Exactly…and that was even cruising in Sport mode from OKC to ATL. I’ve been in the 17mpg realm ever since. 😎

Default 2023 IS500 Wheels

Hi, does somebody have the best facts regarding the 2023 IS 500 wheel colors? I have only heard that the standard IS500 (~60k USD) will have dark grey wheels now, but the premium model (~63k USD) will have the black BBS wheels as standard? Thanks

https://www.lexus.com/models/IS500

They appear to be "Dark Metallic" finish. On the IS 350, "Dark Metallic" is a smoked chrome finish in the US. In Canada, it is a metallic gray paint. Not sure which will be used here, but in most photos, the wheels look glossy black.

In Japan, they look like this:

If I zoom in on the high-res version of the image available here, I see some metallic flake. So I think it's not the same Dark Metallic as what we get in the US, perhaps a paint after all.

BBS wheels are optional on both models. From the Lexus press release: "For 2023, the IS 500 will offer standard new 19-inch Enkei alloy wheels with a dark finish. Based on the success of the 2022 IS 500 Launch Edition, the 2023 IS 500 will also continue the exclusive 19-inch Matte Black BBS forged alloy wheels as an available option for both IS 500 F SPORT Performance models."

Thanks, I will explore the BBS upgrade, as I am leaning toward BBS vs. Enkei. I would likely be happy with either.

Thanks, looks interesting with a darker gray colored car.

The BBS wheels being forged are structurally superior to the Lexus ones. But everyone and their grandma has them on their 350 DHP and LE. So it’s less special IMO.

Another reason not to get the BBS wheels- if you plan to track the car you can buy any set of lightweight JDM forged wheels for almost the same price (probably used). Bam! Now you have 2 sets of wheels.

Thanks, good feedback. For whatever reason, the BBS look more concave or aggressive than the Enkeis to me. I may need to see the new 2023s to call the ball. I will be happy just to get a 2023, even with steelies.

The Enkei spokes are a tad chunky looking, I agree. Maybe it’ll look thinner in black, like men and women.
