After putting down a $2k deposit for a UW on Red in September and inquired just last month as to whether there’s any updates and my salesman replied back coming off as a tiny bit rude in an email saying “As stated before, this a rare car and take months, once we have the car allocated I will let you know”. I wanted to say a simple “no, not yet” would’ve sufficed. I would understand the tone if I pestered him every waking day about it, but this was about 2 months in. But anyway, I was just checking in to see about if it’s wise to continue waiting for this one or should I keep looking around across the country more urgently and aggressively (Willing to go as far west as Ohio and as far south as Florida from NYC) and should I also apply for financing with my CU right now or wait until it’s closer?

It sounds like you were bothering that salesman, no reason for him her to respond like that. From what I’m hearing now it’s not a rare car anymore and someone here posted that prices are coming coming down. Sounds like you need to ask for your deposit back. I’d never work with a salesman with that kind of attitude. Other options await, broaden your search.
I’m seeing pre owned ones popping up at various luxury non Lexus dealerships.

People who REALLY wanted them, got them last year. The flippers got their quick buck and the people who still wanted them bought them used because Lexus was silent on production. Now for 2023, it seems the leftover folks from 2022 got theirs, and there just isn't as much fanfare this year for them, for whatever reason. I had 3 dealers contact me to buy at MSRP this year outside of where I purchased, which for 2022, you would be lucky to get them for only a few thousand over MSRP around here. I am curious how 2024 is going to go.

^^ Let's also not forget that the inflation is in full swing so people are a bit hesitant about buying cars when everything else is also more expensive, and interest rates are also climbing. But what you sated about the enthusiast getting them last year is also very true....It's a combination of factors

Just got back from my dealer for my oil change and they had a USB on white 500 in the showroom, it's probably gonna spend the winter there... Demand is in fact lower this year, us gearheads got ours last year, and with the ultra low supply, a bunch went elsewhere or simply postponed the new car due to the economic uncertainty.
