Default 2023 IS 500 Sales

People have lost their flubbing mind. Newport Lexus just sold a 500 Premium for $20k over MSRP. If they get a Molten Pearl, it will be $25k over MSRP. Why are there so many idiots out there.

Greetings all, I picked up my 23 USB Premium this past weekend at MSRP. Dealer offered free home delivery so I picked that option due to scheduling, however I didn't realize they literally drive the car to your home rather than being trailered... Other than that I'm happy to join the crew!

My assumption is the people who live in Newport just have money to burn

Can confirm, I used to work in Newport. Amex Black Cards were the standard.
Up in the bay area, I asked our few local dealers and either they are not taking any more reservations b/c they don't know when production will resume and they have enough people 'in-line' already.
They all have some level of ADM but closer to $5k.
Some ADM in this market, for someone who cannot wait (for who knows how much longer), has become easy to justify. #instantgratificationgang

Ask those people to read my article mentioned in the front bumper separation thread. If they knew they are spending this much of money to buy a car even cannot hold its front structure shape, will they think twice?

Back in the 2000, there were people paying $5k markup to buy a PT Cruiser, so history will repeat itself.

What I can't believe is how stupid people are to still pay these prices. Stop, just stop everyone. Make the dealerships come off their high horse.

I wish man, but unfortunately you won't find that kind of solidarity among car buyers. I got mine out of state at MSRP, but I was willing to pay up to 2k markup which I justified by thinking that's just a bit more than the cost of travel, food, and lodging for buying out of state and about the cost to ship it enclosed. But no one was willing to negotiate that low. I was also on waitlists for MSRP at Longo and one up north but I was way at the end and would probably never have gotten one.

Has anyone had any luck tracking ‘23 IS500s leaving the Japanese port like some were able to do with the ‘22s?

ppl were paying $20k over for the LE, so that's not surprising. you said it yourself, someone paid $20+ for a premium.

Off topic but idk why Lexus dealerships continue to use old ceiling tiles even after remodeling. I guess Lexus really believes in outdated interiors.

I wonder if the used market for 22 IS500 is going to ramp up soon. I’ve been eyeing a new corvette 😁

For a number of reasons
  1. Fancy GWB ceilings require skilled labor, of which there is few now a days
  2. It is much cheaper
  3. a full GWB ceiling would require a crap ton of access panels that look like ****
  4. When I’m buying a car I don’t give a rat’s *** if the ceiling is made of gold or toilet paper.
