I am approaching almost 1-year of ownership. I get it changed every 4,000 miles & when I take my car to the Lexus Service Department I supply my own oil: Pennzoil Platinum Full-Synthetic 5W-30.
^^ i had my 1st oil change at the dealer before storing it for the winter. Moving forward, I will do my oil change yearly (after about 5000 km) using this exact oil, have a few jugs at home already
What page in the manual is this? I can find the oil type, but not the intervals.
The details are in another booklet. Warranty and Maintenance.
Should you run into warranty claims in the future, it’s better to follow the specific guidance, which could vary by region. This includes a change in maintenance based on operation.
Modern cars store a lot of data, If any manufacturer wanted to dig into details on usage and location, they can.
^^ That is assuming one uses mineral oil but I would suspect that if one decides to use synthetic, the interval can be spaced out a bit no?
I would assume so, but that's all it is... an assumption. I'm sticking with the required maintenance just to be safe, especially since I daily drive short distances (bad for oil) and I don't putt around at 2k RPM all day long.
In my case, that was the recommendation in writing from my Lexus service advisor so I should be alright. Besides, my car was built in December of 2021 so when I did my oil change in November of 2022, the car had already oil in it for ~ 1 year anyway

This will be a common scenario for new owners who baby their car with few miles. Changing out synthetic oil every 6 months when you've driven less than 2500 miles is overkill IMO.

Yeah with so few miles you're probably fine. I remember reading somewhere that the conventional oil helps the motor break in better, but not sure how much truth there is to it. I think other members have switched to synthetic around 15k miles.
^^ I agree - I didn't ask for synthetic when I had my 1st oil change done in November. That is what the dealer puts in so I assume they know what they are doing. Maybe that is a wrong assumption but if something goes wonky, I won't be the cause
