Default Door sills

Hi all,

I just got my car returned from ppf + ceramic + tint. The shop did a great job but I have noticed that the door sills are pretty scratched up. I wanted to know - is that the norm for these cars? Did the shop mess up when applying tint, or are your cars in a similar condition?

Looks like they scuffed it up if it wasn't there before. I had my car tinted by tint shop, wrapped some parts by a wrap shop, had another shop do PPF. And they NEVER scratched up any door sills or any other part of my car at any of these 3 different shops. So I'd have to say, if you didn't notice these before then its highly likely they scuffed up your door sills.

yeah my car has 193 miles only driven it twice. The detail shop had it for about two weeks due to holidays and I noticed when I got back. It’s on both sides and I haven’t even had a passenger in the car yet so my guess is these guys did it somehow. Claiming that they had towels on the side and shoes were off. They offered to ppf it but not replace the pieces so I guess I’ll just have to eat the costs and buy the pieces and have them ppf and install.

I’m OCD but if it were me I’d just move on. It’s a wear part of the car. I can’t recall the last time I looked at the door sills after buying a car or when cleaning it. It would irritate me at first but I wouldn’t spend money to replace it unless they were the lit version.

yeah I think it’s just the new car want it perfect affect like with any new toy. I know on building this car, there is an option for illuminated sills which I was planning on upgrading at some point anyways so once that part becomes available for the IS 500 - I’ll get it replaced if it still bothers me.

Thats unfortunate. If its me, I stop doing any and ALL work with this shop completely. I replace the door sills (if it bothers you enough) myself. I definitely would not let this shop actually touch my car again even if their actual work you paid them to do was stellar. It only takes one time to lose my business, I don't give chances to mess up my car, again. Thats just me tho lol.

I am not sure but has the dealer removed the protective film? It looks as if the thin plastic film is still on and hasnt been peeled off?

It’s really soft material. Mine have been scuffed on all 3 of my Lexus.

I installed the F Sport illuminated door sills in my IS500 back when I got the car early last year. I *think* the PN is PT942-53210-02

that part number seems to be applicable for 2021 IS 350, it’s the black illuminated sills which would go great with my caviar on red. Was installation easy for the illumination part?

Makes sense. I have UW so the brighter one worked better for me. Yes, installation was straight forward; just a wire tap on each side. The set comes with rear sills but those do not illuminate and are just adhesive. I did not bother installing those.

PT942-53210-20 is the correct for the door sills
Trunk sill is PT944-53210-02
