I used to be awkward about that, too. But I've had more practice, thanks to this car, lol. I pretty much say thank you and see what else they say. Sometimes people ask me things like, "What year is it?" or "Is it fast?" or "Does it ride nice?" and I just go with it.

As for being flagged down, I don't think I've ever had that happen. That's somewhat weird. Like, I am just going about my day. This isn't a meet. Unless it is, in which case, yes, flag me down.

The next level is... "Is that a Supra?" I've been getting that one for 22+ years. I sarcastically want to say, No it's a BMW, Ferrari, etc. It only says Toyota and Supra Turbo on it's plump rear end. I had a Subaru Legacy GT Wagon which used to get a surprising amount of attention but the Infrared on this IS 500 does get a lot of random attention.

It’s a unique car, not many around so you’re bound to get comments from people who like cars! Take it as a compliment.
I do agree, I would not pull over while driving if someone tried to flag me down.
