From my dealer experience the service center is completely incompetent when it comes to knowledge of this car.

Yea, I guess it's just the luck of the draw. My service center is phenomenal - my SA has hooked me up many times throughout the years, and the shop foreman is who i request to always work on my car and throw him a tip. They're good to me like that

As far as the key - you can program it yourself via TS.

I work at an independent automotive shop. Does anyone know if the key card is able to be added with an snap on or autel tool or does it have to be programmed at the dealer?

Not sure how those tools work, but you program it inside of tech stream the same way you program a normal Keyfob.

Would love to order one of these! My nearest Lexus dealership is about 2 hours away and they won't return my calls for ordering the card itself. I'm curious if my local Toyota dealership could program it for me?

The normal fob with the F on it looks great as well!
Does the dealer cut the hard key as well to fit the car?

I got the card and blank using the part numbers above.. I called 2 lexus dealers. One said they cant do it. if it didnt come with it you cant add it. The other 2 said they can try, but if it doesn't work I have to pay150.00 from one dealer or 130 from another dealer whether it works or not since I didnt buy the parts from them..

Trying to decide what to do..

Can you return the card & blank and instead buy from one of the 2 dealerships that said they’d charge you if your own supplied key can’t be programmed? Adding a key card after purchase can most certainly be done (I did so myself along with many others), but my thinking is if the same dealership that is doing the programming also sold you the key then they aren’t on high ground in saying you’re still getting charged even if it doesn’t work, because at the end of the day you’d be buying a complete programmed key rather than a key programming service.

My dealership charged me for the programming and did not warranty it would work, however, they would not have charged me if the key was not programmable for my IS500. I purchased the key components from Lexus of Akron, and had it programmed by my longtime Hendricks Lexus dealership in town. I have a relationship with a dealership going back 30+ years, perhaps that's the difference as to the how you have been treated, as far as this key configuration issue is concerned. There's no reason why the key programming does not work, if you purchased the key component that "lojackfty" listed, which are the same one's I purchased and had configured for my 2023 IS500.

Just finished programming mine. Paid the $70 for two days of tech stream use. Took all of 5 min.

curious if the only option is to get the key blank cut at a dealer or can a locksmith do it?

** update- went by the dealer and they cut the key for free. **

Hmmm, I am very interested in going this route. I have a question though. How do you connect the key card to the computer? is it just have to be near by? I really want to try this out. so any info would be appreciated

you’ll need a compatible obd2 cable. I had a tactrix from a previous car. But once you start the programming process it gives you step by step instructions. Just tap the current remote to the start button and then the keycard. The car beeps to confirm it reads it.
