Hi all, I'm recently switched over to Progressive Insurance and expect to to join the IS 500 family in a few months as I'm currently on a waitlist. I'm concerned with the claims experience that I'm reading about from lots of angry Progressive customers as far as getting repairs, claims paid to shops, low balling estimates, etc.. Knocking on wood that I won't ever need to make a claim for the new car, but does anyone here have Progressive insurance with not such a bad experience? I'm considering switching again to Farmers or Nationwide when the IS 500 comes in for a similar rate but mostly to be with a better rated company. I'm in SoCal for reference.
We have State Farm and had 2 claims since 2017 and both were handled great. Took it to a local shop, got OEM parts (on a Mazda), no fighting for payment, etc. It was pretty painless.
Go with the company that gives you the lowest rate for the same coverage. That’s how most people choose. The strength and number of complaining voices on the internet will always be greater than those who are satisfied. Do what you can control. You can control how much your premium is. You can’t control whether or not a company will decide to pay you out or not.

Completely agree on Progressive. They’ll throw you under the bus in order to raise your insurance rates … my wife’s car was t-boned a couple years ago and they refused to acknowledge that she couldn’t have been at fault. Immediately switched to GEICO and have had a much better experience. GEICO did raise our rates $20/mo though when we swapped out our ‘22 IS500 for a ‘23 IS500, which doesn’t make a ton of sense but oh well.
If their rates are competitive State Farm is also good. Worth calling a local agent as they seem to give a better discount than online. Years ago my crotch rocket was stolen and without any arguing State Farm cut me a check for what I paid for it brand new two years earlier.
You need an insurance provider that allows you to add OE parts replacement to the policy. Liberty Mutual used to and I’m sure others like Farmers and State Farm do as well.
IMO the Insurance on these cars is high so I went through Grundy for an agreed value policy. Cost was about $800/yr. Only catch is it can’t be a daily driver and mileage is somewhat limited. I barely drive mine so it isn’t a big deal. If that ever changed I’d have to go with a regular insurance.
I changed a few coverage terms this week so I don't have final costs yet, but I've been with farmers for years and have had to make claims before.
Even with multiple discounts, the costs are still high, but they've also been good with claims.
That said I'm in the SF bay area and it's looking like this car will cost a very pretty penny; ~$2,500/yr. for me.

Lol thats cheap. I have a clean record, have a 350, and I was just bumped to $3000 a year. Full coverage with stacked UM though and only $250 deductible. South Florida rates are ridiculous
I’m using GEICO and my policy is about $2,600 year in California. Good driver discount. That covers three vehicles with full coverage and $500 deductibles. The IS 500 is about $500 more per year to insure than the 2020 Miata Club it replaced.

lets not have a race to the top hah. there's a lot of factors at play (which is mildly annoying with insurance). there's some rules coming into effect (depending on where you live) that could bump rates 7%.
What was interesting is swapping my Model 3 Performance for the IS500 not only raised "car 1" costs up by $400, but also bumped up "car 2" by $200. I kept coverage terms the same.
Everything is going up. It sucks *****. Yesterday I got an email from the gas and electric company (SDGE) that everyone should expect their gas bill to literally double.
I won't say the name of the person who ruined this country but you may buy frozen orange chicken from him.

Jesus, how much were you guys paying for gas before?? Surprisingly it's our cheapest bill at only $31 a month. Electric has doubled in the span of a year because they blame it on the hurricanes so we are at about $220 on that

According to the news it was $2.36 per therm last year and now it's $5.11/therm. I'll get back on topic. Since everything is going up I think the best thing is to pick the cheapest insurance company you're comfortable with.
