IS 500 - A Year In Review

Sleeper: Yup! I’m on the streets of Atlanta, not a Motor Trend prepped surface where races are conducted ‘magazine style’.
Your IS 500 specs: God I wanna be you when I grow up! 😂😂

^^ When you grow up?!? At your age, that may be how your walker will be spec'd (lol)
I agree though, those are nice mods and I am really itching for a more throatier exhaust sound - If I don't get the 2023, I may use some of the money I would have spent on the new car to 'tweak' my old 2022 (lol)

I don't mean any hate haha. I work with seniors and we had one of those Drive Rollators donated and as I was rolling it to get it sanitized I was thinking to myself, "this is actually kinda nice". I probably would be someone who would want some kinda modded out walker. And in Infrared too, put some F Sport Badges on it haha

what gearing the Bimmer has, but must be shorter than the IS. And of course, the down low and flatter torque curve across majority of the RPM range helps the bimmer.
Anyways, curiosity just getting the better of me. Both are fantastic cars. We are actually splitting hairs now.

The RWD M340 also spanks the IS500. Same curb weight. Just saying, with nearly 100 more HP you'd expect IS to be on par, at the very least. Don't know

The M340i is a quick little car, but I've seen them dyno over 400whp STOCK. It sure as hell isn't a 382hp car.
Porsche, Audi, and Benz all do it too. When I'm bored I watch and research dyno information and they're always putting down way more power than they should. Same story with the new Supra. They were putting down rated or more and more than rated torque. There is no way they could run low 12s stock with their rated power.

Those Germans are sandbaggers, many of them dyno with higher numbers at the wheels than they rate their cars at the crank.

It’s all a trade off. I had a b9 s5 sportback that was definitely quicker than this car. But it lacked character and any emotion, it was quick but not really fun. Also the amount of minor issues I had to take that car in not to mention Audi service sucks. It was a looker tho and practical though I just didn’t really enjoy it. The 20 inch rims with run flats which was extra got me 9 flats in 2 years, one was so bad that I had to replace a control arm
I don’t have time to live in the service center. I’m hoping even the marginal difference in performance is made up with how gorgeous the car is, the character of the v8, and the bulletproofness of v8.
we are gonna go through tires tho lol

Audi has been criticized for years about the lack of character in it's non-RS cars. BMW is, by contrast, lauded for making very quick and fun sports cars. What made me go with the IS500 is the NA V8 and the focus on making the day to day driving better rather than the track experience. That is something a lot of the competitors do badly; they're so concerned about track times that they forgot most people don't drive at the track every day.
