My bet is he's already learning the features with the technology specialist as we type this. Hopefully he scored that rocket deal!

Well I am sure you saw the other posts, but yeah, things worked out in the end!

I had to negotiate a bit on the trade, as they really, REALLY low-balled me on it at first. The KBB value they showed me was a lot lower than it should've been, and there was no KBB.com screenshot to verify it. I basically called BS on that. I probably could've been more polite. But it was a bold-faced lie that the KBB value on my car was only $36k and change. I got about $39k when I put my info in, and we said we would've liked if it was at least $40k, preferably $41k. In the end, they agreed to $41,500, stating that the condition of the car was actually impressive and that they wanted to make us happy - and make a sale, I reckon.

Honestly, that's all we really needed to make the deal work. I mean, a $5k jump in trade-in value made a huge difference.

As for the car it is a 2023 Infrared Premium with the BBS wheels and basically all the options I can think of for this car. MSRP was $67,025, and that is what they sold it for.

Good deal A! Brings me back to the good old days last year lol. I sold my Prius for $8500 private party which I also bought for $8500, and paid MSRP of $61k for the IS500.

Default Took delivery last week after waiting just over a year

I was considering a new car purchase and the technicians at two of the repair shops I frequent urged me to consider the IS500 over a "Eurotrash" sedan or SUV. On December 27, 2021 I had the opportunity to drive Launch Edition IS500 #83 at Wilke Lexus outside Philadelphia. The test drive was way too short however I liked the car, especially the sound of the engine. I test drove #83 a two more times over the two weeks. #83 accumulated quite a few miles over that period of time, quite a few test drives.

Then on January 21, 2022 I saw IS500 Launch Edition #132 on the floor at Lexus Chester Springs PA. I liked the car however I was not interested in the launch edition color, interior, added cost for features I had no value for, etc.

I asked to be placed on the list for an Atomic Silver/Black Premium Package IS500. Lexus Chester Springs put me on the list and did not want a deposit. I stayed in touch with them over the past year, letting them know I still wanted the car but it had to be Atomic Silver over black. I was told the cars could be not be special ordered and that the cars were just built and pushed out by Lexus with the Lexus North American Regional Managers doling out the car to the dealers. The cars seemed to began to flow in December/January 2023. Chester Springs got a black IS500 which was offered to me. I passed.

In mid-January 2023 the new car sales manager, Steve Mills, called and offered me an Atomic Silver over black IS which was due in mid/late February. He sent me the build sheet upon my request. The car had more accessories than I wanted, however after waiting a little over a year, I figured I better take it rather than wait any longer.
  1. What trim is your IS500? Base or Premium? Color? Limited Edition/Special Appearance?
Atomic Silver over black. Premium
  1. How did you get your IS500? Did you go through the dealership and placed a factory order or were you lucky enough to get one on the lot?
    1. How long did it take from signing the paperwork to taking delivery if you factory ordered?
    2. Did you go out of state to get your IS500?
See above paragraphs.
  1. What are some of the options equipped? BBS wheels or Enkei? Navigation with ML?
BBS wheels, rubber floor & trunk mats, door edge guards, rear bumper PPF, illuminated door sills, cargo net, key gloves, wheel locks.
  1. What is the MSRP and what was the Out the door price?
$66,405 MSRP. No market adjustment. Just PA sales tax, title, transferred a plate, doc fee, etc. No dealer installed items required. Just a straight up deal with no B.S..
  1. Which dealership did you go to and would you recommend them with your experience?
Lexus Chester Springs PA was great. No B.S., a straight deal, no mark ups or hassle. The car was going directly for PPF so I did not want it detailed, just standard delivery prep. Chester Springs was great, accomodating every special request I had. They offer a relaxed, small dealership experience with a large facility. None of the high pressure sales tactics the other local dealership use. Plenty of space so I am not concerned about my car being damaged there.

Josh Copeland (General Sales Manager), Steve Mills (New Car Sales Manager) and Drew Aponte (Sales Representative) made this purchase a great experience. I'd buy another car there for sure. If you are in the Philadelphia and Southeastern PA area, it's worth a visit or call to them.

So a little update. I started working with a dealership on a deal. They're selling it at MSRP. $66,845 but the OTD is about $74k.. trying to work it at $73,200. You guys think it's reasonable? What price should I lock it in?

Default What’s in the amount over MSRP?

Presuming sales tax, documentation fees, plates, notary fees, etc. which are not negotiable.

As far as I know, these car are still selling at MSRP.

As long as there are no dealer add-ons or ADM in that price, seems reasonable to me.

So what’s in the amount in excess of $66,845?

yes that’s reasonable. I paid MSRP which was $63k in 2022 and OTD was $69k+ which is roughly the same ratio as yours.

It’s interesting to see the effects of inflation and other factors reflected in the MSRP increase from 2022. My premium total was $66K. ($62K MSRP + $4K Georgia Taxes) Good luck, the car is worth every penny!

The California DMV website has a great calculator feature. You just input your specific information (car price, your home location, etc.) and it calculates all of the govt. fees and taxes to register/get plates, etc.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/wasapp/FeeCal...VehicleForm.do

Print it out and take it with you to the dealer. I did that and each item was within a dollar or two of what the calculator said. It felt good to have confirmation from the DMV, and not just the dealer.

This is a great idea. I checked the DMV website and the pricing was almost $300 difference. That's one of the reasons why I offered $73,200 instead of the out the door price they quoted me at $74,138. Well, mostly of the all weather mats that they added too.

And I'm not sure if anyone knows this CarDoc 5 years/75k miles maintenance (optional) fee. I mean it says optional, but why even put it in the quote?

If the all-weather mats are the OEM Toyota ones, they're a lot nicer than I was expecting. Thick as hell and sturdy; a good value I think.

Take your time with the purchase paperwork, don't let the F&I person rush you. Let them know you like to read anything you sign, and you've got all day to do so. If they balk at that, just say maybe you need to work with another F&I person who is more reasonable. That should shut them up. The standard purchase form in Cali. is well laid-out and logical. Start at the top, and use the calculator on your phone to check everything. If you're financing, there are P&I calculators on the web that you can use to confirm the payment is correct. Absolutely don't pay for any gap insurance, credit life insurance, prepaid maintenance, or any other such BS. Good luck! The car is awesome. It reminds me of the old muscle cars of the 70s, but with Toyota quality and engineering.
