Angry Oil leak

I have a 2010 Lexus IS350C that has an oil leak. Both the Dealer and the Lexus Rep. I talked with said
this is highly unusual for a car with this low milage (69846). Lexus Case # 230817001361 Rep Meguel. The Claim number is under my partners name (John Adam) but It's my car.

The car is out of warranty time wise but under the 70,000 mile warranty.

The Dealer Piutnam Lexus, 390 Convention Way, Redwood City, CA 94063-1405Phone 660-363-8500.

The car all of a sudden started to issue black smoke in November 2022. BTW the Lexus dealer is the only people to work on the car. I have babyed this car and it's in almost like new condition.

First they said it was bad gas and I should run it to empty a couple of times and that should fix it but It didn't. The Lexus dealer did an oil check and had me return it after 1000 miles, which I did. The car was using 20% of a quart of oil in a 1000 miles. The solution is a complete overhaul of the engine at the price of $15,000 to $20,000. It won't pass smog!

Lexus has denied any help with the rebuild.

Well that certainly is some bad news you got on your engine. I would consider looking for a used engine somewhere. Might seem like more f’n around but your cost might be 10k instead of 20k. Just find a local shop to do the swap. Could take some time to find an engine but they’re out there. I would run some sea foam through the engine (gas) to try and clean it out. You can also put some in your engine oil before changing oil. Maybe add an oil additive and see if that helps after refilling. Things to try..

Although it may seem daunting that your car is burning oil, this is a known problem with the 350 engine dating before 2011, the piston rings allow blow by due to the high compression ratio in the engine, adding oil is a whole lot cheaper than an engine replacement, also side note, a new engine is never worth the money, used low mile 2011+ engines can be found in the 3-4k range and you can likely expect a bill of $500-1500 for install depending on who you know and what’s available. BUTTTT I would advise you to just add oil as you need to, I have a 2010 350C and I bought it as an oil burner at roughly 150K miles, it had a long history of burning oil prior to my ownership, you can keep your engine healthy by doing oil changes every 3K miles and running a oil catch can to save your catalytic converters from getting clogged. The only downside really is the smell of the burning oil, the hassle of topping it off, and having to replace the spark plugs more often ~60K miles instead of 100K. I have put 100K miles on my car and my engine is still healthy and has all its power, it burns around 1 quart every thousand miles but I drive hard all the time everywhere. I’m not really keeping an order but another option would be replacing the piston rings with the newer provision as well as the valve seals while you’re in there.

Default 350C Oil Leak

My 2012 350C had the very common timing cover oil leak a couple years ago at 67,000 miles. The Lexus dealership took care of the timing cover leak ($4,000) and I only had to pay $500. I have heard that these engines burn some oil so I also keep mine topped off and run full synthetic changing every 6,000 miles.
