Default According to AutomobileMag... (2IS Convertible - merged threads)

This is what the convertible is gonna look like...

It stated that it will be a 2009... and said "In what can only be seen as an effort to more closely copy the BMW 3-series, Lexus will introduce a two-door IS convertible with a retractable steel roof in 2008."

This is one picture that I believe... unlike some of those other photoshops.

It does look wierd. It is still a chop. Rear tire has no clearance.

I dont think it's much of a chop, considering it is an slight incline... so the weight is on the rear tires. look at your car in the driveway....its similar.

Also, the rear seats are different from any other chops I've seen... at close up they look like authentic convertible rear seats with pop-up roll bar protection.

Yeah, and here's their depiction of the ISF/IS500... (image courtesy of Automobilemag.com)

These guys are simply speculating just like we are. Only difference is that they have a magazine to print their guesses in...

Look at the 2 o'clock position of the rear tire. Looks pretty odd.

That is a photochop. It came out in www.autospies.com sometime ago and there was a RIDICULOUS argument on whether it was real or not, but it's not. I actually have the original picture they used to create that chop to back it up, but whoever did it, did a pretty good job!!

Seriously...if someone did that... its pretty amazing. IMO it's one of the best photoshops of the convertible I've seen.

So props to them.

No way Lexus; don't do it! The proposed droptop version indicated in those pictures ruin the IS' lines and postively pronounces an already large rear quarter.

Make the 2009 IS 350/500 a coupe and call it a day.

That is definitely, 100% a chop. Besides, Lexus would never show a press photo three years before a car is launched. Also, Lexus always does mid-cycle upgrades such as new wheels, grille, etc. There is no way a 2009 IS will look exactly like the current car.

If you look at other manufacturers, including Toyota, they nearly all make the coupe different from the sedan. Look at Camry/Solara, G35 sedan/coupe, 3-series sedan/coupe, Accord sedan/coupe, etc. I would expect the IS coupe/convertible to be more than just a 2-door version of the sedan.
