Default Looking for tire recommendations - 2014 IS250C

Hi all,

My Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4's are nearing the end of their tread life (one tire is actually completely gone, kept going flat and I have a donut tire on at the moment) and I'm in the market for new tires. I really enjoyed driving with the Pilot A/S 4's but they are extremely difficult to find right now, at least in my area. When I first got this car, they came with Bridgestone Turanza's, but I seem to have enjoyed the Michelin's the most so far.

Local Lexus dealerships have the following tires in stock: Bridgestone Turanza EL400 02 / Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus / Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season/ Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate/ Yokohama Advan Sport A/S + / Bridgestone DriveGuard. Costco seems to have the Pilot Sport A/S 4's in stock but only for the front tires, the rear ones are still out of stock.

My tire sizes are: 18" Front/Rear 22540R18/25540R18

My budget is to keep it as close to $1000 finishing cost. I understand prices for everything are skyrocketing but if I can get the 4 tires installed and done with for anywhere close to 1000, I'll be a happy camper. I don't mind going a 100 or 200 over if it means getting really good tires but I definitely can't shell out 1500 or more for 4 tires at the moment.

Main questions:

1) What tires would you all recommend?

2) Should I get them changed at my local dealership? or go for a Mavis/Pep Boys/Costco etc instead?

Hey @PeachIS250, I've moved this to the IS C forum in case they have experience or better insight than us 3IS folks do.

If I may, I would recommend NOT buying from the dealer unless they're giving you a heavy discount. Places like Discount Tire, Tire Rack, etc. will easily beat the dealership's prices 99% of the time.

Pilot Sport A/S 4 is a good option and has worked well on 3IS models but you will pay a bit more for it than the DWS06. Both are great tires.

Thanks for the help! I've been looking through the websites and my dealership is doing a pretty good job in terms of matching prices to what's on the market right now. I think there's about a $25-50 dollar all in cost difference but I'll definitely keep looking if there's any stellar deals to be had. Thanks for your response. Much appreciated!

I use to use the Bridgestone Potenzas, as well as the Pilot Sport AS4, and I know the stock tires are Continental DWS. Typically whichever is on discount at the moment on a buy 3 get 1 free at Tire Rack/America's Tire is what I gravitate towards. $1000 is definitely not necessary. Expect around 150-200/tire.

I can tell you which tires NOT to get, and that would be any of the run flat ones.

Whoever had my 350C before me put run flats on all four corners for some reason (Not sure why because these things have a spare, unlike most of the SC430s) and they are so damn stiff that they ride like absolute garbage. It doesn't help that I live down a 1/4 mile dirt road with a washboard surface, but it is difficult for me to justify spending the money on replacing tires that are almost brand new.

@ed21x I've been searching through a few websites and I'm getting tires without installation fees for roughly $700-$800. I'm not much of a car guy so I don't have a clue on how to install them myself. Is there anywhere that will do it for a low cost?

I've heard quite a few issues regarding the run flats. They also seem to be much more of a price tag so I definitely won't be going for those. I've had a great experience so far driving with my Michelin's and I believe Bridgestone before that and had zero complaints with either of those. Appreciate the response!

Walmart by far the cheapest. Also get m1 full synthetic oil there

Honestly, I have had some damn good tires from Wal-Mart!

I had a 91' Daihatsu Rocky for a few years that I recently sold, and Wal-Mart was the only place that readily had those teeny tiny tires readily in stock. They were good name brand Hankooks as well.

I currently have some variant of Pirelli P Zero's on (summers). I will not be repeating with summers. My intent was to buy:
1. Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus | 225/40ZR18 - diameter Front | 255/40ZR18 - diameter Rear (tirerack.com)
OR
Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 | 225/40R18 - diameter Front | 255/40R18 - diameter Rear (tirerack.com)

So, that would range in at $600-700, not including shipping on install.
I'd have them shipped to home OR, if hauling is a problem dropped shipped to a local installer.

I ended up getting a pretty good bargain on some Bridgestone Potenza tires from Costco! 800 for a set of 4 wheels and installation included. Was hard to find any deal close to that on Tirerack, Mavis, etc. I've never done it with Costco before so looking forward to hopefully a positive experience with them after getting a bargain on these tires. Thank you all for your responses, I've noted down the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus as a tire to look out for whenever it's time to change them again.

Hope someone can answer this as well. I am going to upgrade my wheels from 18" to 19". Plan on doing 8.5F / 9.5R. I want to wrap the wheels in 235 / 265. Will this fit with out rubbing or any fender mods? I am trying to go after a flush fitment.
