Default Custom airbag cover swap

I ordered and finally received a replacement leather airbag cover.

Anyone with experience swapping it out, it seems the original cover is riveted in, is there a special way to remove and replace? Thank you for any advice.

I used this video when I installed my custom wheel on my ISF.

^^^^^ Thank you, I am inquiring about removing the airbag cover, as I already removed the airbag from the steering wheel, you can see the rivets in the bottom photos.

UPDATED:

I woke up this morning full of confidence, simply drilled the rivets out and swap the airbag cover. All set and done. No too bad when you get over the fear of working with an airbag :-)))

So you drilled out the OEM rivets, and did you put new rivets or how did you secure the new cover on?

Yes, I secured it with the new rivets, that was the fun part :-)
Drilling them out wasn’t.

I agree with Quadrphnia, that looks fantastic!
I am curious however - did you just happen to have a rivet-gun on hand? Or did you use a similiar-sized threaded nut/bolt combo?

Thank you,
Yes, I have rivet gun on hand, they are cheap, every DIY-er should get one.

What type or rivets did you use?

I'm trying to do mine too, I don't want to mess it

The rivet tool came with few different sizes, I just used the closes ones. It’s just rivets, don’t worry about messing anything up.
