Default IS-F Advice

Hi All!

First time posting to Club Lexus! The IS-F was first released when I was in high school. One of my good friends had an IS-350. These cars have become part of me over the years. I hope to begin searching for an excellent example of an IS-F.

I have seen multiple posts about various changes over the years, from suspension updates to a limited-slip rear diff addition in 2010 (I believe).

I am hoping someone can shed some light on what is the sweet spot of IS-F production and why.

Thanks for your input! Trying to learn as much as I can before starting my search!

From what you have read and searched I am confident you have come to the conclusion it is a matter of finding the cleanest example to suit your budget?

It really is as simple as that and it has been discussed ad nauseam in the forums and facebook groups.

Both the factory suspension and open differential can be upgraded with suitable aftermarket items, as with any car looking for something with service history and reasonable mileage are key factors in making your decision to purchase.

Hey, welcome to the forums and congrats in advance on joining the ISF family! Check out this link from the sticky, gives a quick summary year by year:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...reference.html

As mentioned above, mostly minor revisions from year to year. Personally, I don’t feel anything on that list is a deal breaker. I would first seek out a clean, well-maintained vehicle in your price range and budget for anything you may wish to change (LSD, suspension, headlamps, etc.)

Good luck on your search!

Agreed with the folks above. The best ISF is going to be the best-maintained ISF you can find on your budget. That might mean an '08 like mine. The biggest change is the LSD in 2010 onward, but you can add that yourself later, if you end up deciding you need it. The other big change is one most people won't make, which is the update to the gauge cluster in 2010 as well. Personally, I prefer the pre-2010 gauge setup. Steer clear of salvage/wreck titles, and try to find something that has maintenance records. If you find any, feel free to post a picture/ad/description here. I'm sure we'll all have opinions. Happy hunting!
