Smile What exhaust system should I get for 08 ISF?

Hi everyone, I know nothing about cars and I was thinking of adding some modification to my 08 IS F. The first mod I was thinking is an exhaust system. I live in Cali so I want a legal one and something that can produce power and noise. I was thinking about Xforce exhaust system. Anyone have experienced or know about this exhaust? Or any other suggestion would be appreciated.

The only exhaust in California that would be legal is an axle back. Anything else is illegal. Circuit Werks makes an axle back. Unless you have a hot smog. Xforce catback will not pass Smog check.

Axle back in California is legal. Anything else with midpipe will fail smog.

Something else to consider - something I almost did a while ago is going to a muffler shop. Chop the stock mufflers and get flanges welded to them. Get a second set of mufflers that are small and don't restrict much flow/reduce much noise. I sat on the fence for a while contemplating a set of Flowmaster 40 series or Super 10's. Fairly cheap to do, and easily reversible should someone give you grief over your setup.

Wow, Circuit Werks has now copied the HKS SSM design in both Stainless and Titanium materials for a fraction of the cost.
Not advocating, just observing.

We sell two exhaust systems in an axle back variant. The one below is a great option to add sound to the car without letting the inspection shops know you have made major modifications. This will increase the tone and look of your exhaust and for under $1000

If you want to get a little more aggressive in sound and really hear the car, check out our bazooka. This essentially removes the rear mufflers and just adds pipes. While I don't think you will have a problem with inspection, this will be a little more up for scrutiny from a shop if they don't like that you removed mufflers.

Hey bud, welcome to the F-amily.

Coming from someone that has had the Varex Cat-Back installed on my F now for several years. I personally would not "waste" the money on the (IMHO) gimmicky variable exhaust. I was concerned it would disturb my shop neighbor I share a warehouse with but honestly, I might of played with the valved exhaust once but it has stayed open since.
Its not too terribly loud on start up and when you put it in gear, the RPM's drop so low its not that loud on idle.

If you daily, leave for work early and like your neighbors then it might be an option for you, if not save the few hundred bucks and omit the valved mufflers. If that option is even available from Summit. Years back when I purchased my full cat back exhaust from Summit it was and regret on just not picking that one up instead.

I am located on the Central Coast here in Cali with you in SLO if you are nearby and would like to listen, you are welcome to stop by.
Also, my vehicles are all registered in CA just below the Oregon border and only need to smog once for the transfer and that's it. That being said. It would not be to terribly painfull to reinstall the stock exhaust for SMOG when its due.

The full cat back exhaust did liven up the car quite a bit and when I drive through my touristy downtown area I can see the looks on passerby's faces wondering how this tiny Lexus is making that loud V8 noise

Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Congrats on the purchase
J
