Default IS F High Pressure Fuel Pump

IS F High Pressure Fuel Pump,

Hey guys, I thought I had seen oil coming from my valve covers a while back (3mo) left it alone since I thought it just valve covers, nothing really to worry about (I figured I would replace the valve cover gasket at some point easy enough...).

3mo into the future now (lost a 1qt of oil).

I decided to take the care into he Lexus shop to have them take a look at it and their master machine had said the leak is coming from the high pressure fuel pumps.

Q:
1. Did I not realize any oil from those fuel pumps when I first look at it 3mo ago (I wouldn't normally look for oil there and I don't recall any oil from there either)?
2. What are the chances that my valve cover gasket are "also" shot (135k miles)?

The last thing I want is say yeah sure for for the fuel pumps then I come back 2 weeks later and have to pay for the whole job again to have them replace the valve gaskets. ha I would want to have them replace the valve gaskets as the main job and while they have taken that apart, go ahead and replace the high pressure pump gaskets with little to no extra labor cost.

Anyways.

!) Possibly 2) Pretty good chance they are more of a plastic than rubber now
Usually the high pressure fuel pump gaskets are replaced when doing the valve cover - it just makes sense being that the HPFP are ran off of the intake cam gear.

At that age and miles it is best to get both hpfp and valve cover gaskets replaced. Possibly check for oil leak on the timing cover as well.

Find the parts list for the valve lash inspection and buy them. Sparkplugs are optional, but you'll need the rest of it if you have oil leaking that fast from anywhere near the valve covers. Might be prudent to measure the valve lash while you've got it open.
