re: lf-a engine, lexus has had this car on tracks all over the world. theyre not going to change their mind now in such a fundamental way..so far into the dev process. they've even been showing the lf-a engine off at shows for a while too. MT doesnt know what they're talking about. we deal with this kind of reporting all the time on gt-r forums...

Default $70k for what?!?

So I'm a little confused...This website said the following,

"But high-powered vehicles also got attention. Carter called the F series the “exclamation point” of the Lexus brand and an important way to appeal to customers willing to spend $70,000 on a car."

http://resanium.com/blog/?p=138

Carter as in Bob Carter (chief of the Lexus division). Is he or the website saying the IS-F's going to be $70k?!?

Just an FYI for peeps that are complaining it "only has 400hp & 350tq"...They said it's going to have more than these numbers. Considering the LS460 motor has 367 lb-ft of torque, my educated guess would be 375-380 lb-ft of torque for the IS-F motor. Wow, 7k redline in the IS-F & 9k redline in the LF-A?!? I can't wait to see it in person on Sunday! That's my main reason to fly to Detroit.

70 grand for a 35 thousand dollar car with a slightly hopped up and stroked out version of the motor and transmission out of 50-60 thousand dollar car (GS460 and LS460) and various other performance tweaks and upgrades is ridiculous.

Granted, it's no more ridiculous than, say, the Audi RS4 that only does the 1/4-mile in the low 13s for what it costs... but you don't see me buying that car either, do you?

LF-A will have a v10. As a matter of fact, there was a V10 on display next to the LF-A when it was sitting on the floor on Monday right after the Press Release.

In addition to pricing....historically Lexus has always priced their vehicles competatively. Meaning it will not be exact or exceed what the compeition is slating. Not too long ago, people complained the IS350 hit the $40+ range. But the IS350 is selling quite fine despite the premium.

$70k for the IS-F would be over kill. I probably see that price for the GS-F (if/when that ever comes out).

$45-50k for the IS-F would be succifient (imho).

I have very high expectations for the F division. Probably be a decade before most of the Lexus models will have some sort of F division tuning.

I'm so glad also that the whole talk of hybrids, and some assuming that 'h' was the only special Lexus extra-power situation were upstaged by 'F'. Of course hopefully the new IS-F won't be a gas guzzler...

Toyota/Lexus will figure out a way to make it decent. Be nice some how the numbers ring up like 22 mpg (wishful thinking) probably be like what 16 mpg?! Very rough calculations that I just thought of, so dont mind me.

I agree Henry. I see Lexus announced some of the specs/dimensions. Besides hp & tq #'s, I'm curious how much it'll weigh considering the IS350 already weighs a porky 3527 pounds. Lets hope it doesn't come close to the Audi RS4's weight of 3957 pounds. And yeah, I know the awd adds a few hundred pounds.

OT: I'm in the market for a sports car & the RS4 was on my small list...That was until I test drove it recently. You could mos def feel those 3957 pounds working against you when you toss it around...doh! Talk about front heavy. That & the subpar shifter/tranny was the reason why it's off my list now. Too bad, b/c that v8 engine note was music to my ears! I can't wait to hear the engine sound clips of the IS-F.

I totally agree. How can it possibly be 70k though even fully loaded? Isn't estimated pricing gonna start at 50k?
