Would love to see 500hp, but I have my doubts even for the M3. We are talking VIPER/Vette power here. I'll be going to the Detroit Auto show in January, so maybe there will be more information released about the IS-F and M3. Anyone else on this board going? I'll be there Saturday January 20th for sure.

Here is a link to the latest announcements of vehicle introductions planned for this years show. The IS-F is on the list.

um ok..so if they drop 500hp on the IS-F. How much power do you think the Lexus supercar will be toting? Interesting, we'll have to wait and see. Get ready for all the BMW fanboys to come out of the wood works, it's Lexus bashing season.

If this is true then watch out Viper, E 63, CLS 63, SL 63, S 63, M3, M5, M6, RS6, any others I forgot to mention?

It's possible that they going to do it. Look what they did with the IS350. It's the fastest Lexus to date for a base price of only $35K. They did really surprised people with the IS350. I know they surprised the heck out of me, I'd thought I never own a 4rd Lexus because they were all slow even the V8 ones until the IS350 came out.

Same here! I had never even looked at a Lexus until the IS350 came out. It seemed like a boring company with emphasis on quality and reliability, but not too much on performance. When you add performance to the quality/reliability you got a winner.

Is it possible that they would do some engine sharing between the super car and the IS-F? Only the supercar would be way lighter and stiffer etc. If lexus did indeed introduce this upon the automotive world come January, you better believe they will shock the auto world, as well as a few companies that shall remain nameless.

I highly doubt it.

Why spend $100+k on the Lexus supercar (LF-A) if you can get (almost) the same speed for half the price, with the "luxury" of four doors and rear seats?

The LF-A will be the halo car for Lexus, not the IS...

Could be the same engine, but the LF-A would be super light... Sort of like the NSX engine being similar HP as the CL/TL engine... 3.2L V-6 with 260/270 hp...

LF-A would probably have 5% or so more hp than the IS-F because of exhaust/tuning...

I don't think it's going to happen, I'm just saying that it's not impossible...

The LF-A is the name of the Lexus Supercar concept. A true Viper, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, GT-R, C6 competitor...we probably won't hear anything concrete about it until late 2008. There are images all over the web, as well as a spy video of it being tested on the Nurburgring track in Germany

I doubt it, it does not make economic sense for the reasons already mentioned. The IS350 is not as groundbreaking an achievment as some of you make it out to be. Yes, it's 306HP small sedan starting at $35k, (although I have yet to see one at anything less than 38k) but so what? I don't see what is so astonishing about those numbers. Infiniti had the G35 with only slightly less power, but also a lower price tag so the price/performance ratio would be about similar to the IS350.

I'd love for it to be accurate, I just don't think it is.

But I think they meant in regards to Lexus.

Lexus finally made a small sporty sedan with plenty of power to rival (or try) the G or 3 series BMW. So, to the Lexus fans.. its a pretty big achievement, what other Lexus car hauls as much as the IS350? Maybe a GS/LS but it doesn't feel the same!
