Dabig --
I highly doubt there will be a cayman turbo, because even the cayman/boxster s is pushing the boundary. Porsche has admitted that they won't make their "entry" models any more powerful or faster, because they'd be impinging on sales of their own 911. Speaking of which, if you're willing to drop 70k, you could get a stripped down 911...but who would want that?

What is your criteria? Reliability? You have no other choice ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
If it's funness, you could get a couch![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
E46 is really harsh ride.
C55 is really bland and electrically unstable.
RS4 is expensive beyond belief.
In my opinion those are the competitors that directly line up with the IS-F. Remember, everyone else will have their own opinion. Some will be the same, some will differ, but make sure you think for yourself and you get what you want.
Edit - This was my 1337 post. I am now officially leet.

CTS-V --- sucks, lame navigation/interior 400hp
M3 --- not even comparable in power to the IS-F 330hp vs 400+?
RS4 --- possible
Z06 --- no luxury, good power but 2 seater and played out unless youre having a midlife crisis.
GTR --- possible
Supra?? --- what? this is not luxury or even comparable in power unless you mod it heavy and even then you got a 10 year+ old car
CTS-V --- sucks, lame navigation/interior 400hp

Z06 - played out?? possibly the best performance value EVER. this thing will run with the elite from italy. ferrari won't even give cars to the mags to test against the Z06 because they know their $200k car will get raped by the $70k vette. how many Z06's have you seen on the road? I"ve seen exactly 3.
Supra - next gen supra is rumored to be out in 2008, possible same motor as the IS-F
my main beef with the IS-F is that there is a castrated version running around (IS250)

Toyota FT-HS: 400HP, mid $30K, might not be luxury as Lexus...
BMW 335i: 400HP(with $1500 ECU tunning), $40~45K, luxury
saving of $15~30K over IS-F...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas

For me, probably a call between the next gen M3 vs the IS.
I had a 2002 M3. Certainly a fun car and great to drive and push.
However, I had to take it in for several recalls related to the engine and SMG transmission. Also, it had some kind of weird electrical quirk where it wouldn't start periodically. As it was my daily driver, it was certainly the kind of nuisance that I didn't need. I almost certainly would not buy the next gen M3 in it's first model year.
I'm anxious to see the IS-F 500. With ~425 hp and Lexus reliability, it will be very tempting. Yes, I'm sure the "experts" will argue that the driving characteristics will not match the BMW, but I suspect that 99% of real life driving situations will be comparable.
If prices truly start in low 50s and go to 60s with options, then pricing should be favorable compared to the M3.
