Default Low $50K to around $60K

Edmunds is a pretty reliable source, and they say $50K range:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=119151

"According to Edmunds Research, in conversations with Lexus insiders, Lexus is expecting to price the IS-F in the ballpark of $50,000. As comparison, the outgoing BMW M3 model cost $48,900 and boasts only 333hp, while a similarly priced IS-F will put down 400+hp."

http://www.insidefastlane.com/lexus.htm

Automotive.com also says $50K range:

http://www.automotive.com/future-car...isf/index.html

Here is another source that indicates a price starting in the low $50K range:

http://www.autoinsidernews.com/2006/...08-lexus-is-f/

My new issue of Motortrend has $55K listed as an estimated price.

All of the sources I have found indicate a price estimated to start in the low $50K range and top out near $60K. This is consistent with what two local dealers told me.

Lexus will price the IS-F competitively. The $70K price that some have thrown around is outrageous, IMO. Please, if anyone has a source on the web or anywhere else that estimates a price starting in the $60K range for the IS-F, please show it to me.

I think Lexus should sell a base IS-F for $49K and equip it exactly like the IS350 base car....hey, I can dream right?

fully loaded over 70K at employee pricing, Toyota execs complaining it is pretty pricey from what they initially thought it would be, as ordering just began on these about a month ago, with 15 north american execs allowed to lease these each month

Where did you get this information? I read that Toyota employee pricing is at dealer cost + some rebate money. I see that the IS350 has approximately a 12% difference from invoice to MSRP. That would mean that a fully loaded IS-F would roughly go for $78,400 Definitely other options at that price point.

The employee leasing computer. And it is more like 8-9%. And yes, people are ing over the price. It is crazy from some people I've talked to interested in ordering one.

I totally agree. There is no way it will be in the 60-70K range. It would be crazy if Lexus priced it like that, especially given that it is their first entry in this segment. I have found tons of sources that say 50K range, and not even one single source that says 60-70K range, other than the speculation in here. Check out all the links in my previous post (#31). If someone can show me any source that says $60-70K please do, and "a dealer said so" or "this competitor costs that" just isn't reliable. Many people are just coming in here and quoting how other competing cars will be priced, and assuming that Lexus will price the IS-F the same. Lexus may try to undercut the prices of the competition as an added selling point. I strongly believe this to be the case based on all the information I have gathered at this time, but we will have to wait and see.

I just cant imagine a 500hp luxury car in the 50k range... Thats the range of an M3... And this will def be better than an M3 so youd think it would be more. Im going for the 60-70k range. You have to consider dealer mark up too. These are not communter everyday cars. Only true enthusiasts will be buying these things and for a dealer to even have one on the lot will be rare and Im sure they will try to add 5-10K just for having one available.

First of all, nobody has claimed that the IS-F will have 500hp. Lexus has simply said it will have over 400 hp. There is absolutely no way it would ever meet ULEV II emissions and avoid the gas guzzler tax if it had 500 hp. Lexus has officially said that it will meet ULEV II emissions and not have the GG tax.

The M3 is likely to be one of the IS-F's closest competitors, so I don't know why you are saying it will definitely be more expensive than the M3. Also, I don't know how you can say "it will def be better than an M3" without driving it or at least looking at reviews of the car.

Your post is pure uninformed speculation, at it's worst!

For a car that has absolutely no history as of today, I doubt it if Lexus dare to price the car this close to the legendary M3 and upcoming GTR(estimated at $68k, but this one should be close). Here is my pure guess:

Base IS-F starts at $48,000
Fully loaded IS-F at $59,000

Default lexus

notorious for not marking up cars, but put on spoiler tint, wheels and they will go up in price.

The gtr will not be touched for at least 5-15k over sticker. Trust me on this one.

M3 willbe around 10-15k less than m5
m3 will cost in the high 60's. I freaking 335 loaded up w/o vert is 50k.

The new Car and Driver states starting (just) under $50,000.

I remember when I was shopping the regular IS350 though, Lexus charges a bunch for options.
