Also, it is true that most car mags and lining up is350 ($38k+) with G35($31k+), and both manufacturers are claiming their cars peaking out at 306+/- hp.

I just want to state out Lex cost more bucks, and I love cars build by Toys by heart.
The 335 isn't cheaper than the IS350 either. And while the G35 is rated at the same HP, it's still not faster, although it is cheaper.

The handling has received a lot of praises for the new M3 (it pulled 0.94g at the skidpad, which is better than the E46 M3).

The steering is a bit lighter than what they were expecting. As for brakes, what it said was the brakes are extremely strong on the new M3. The only problems critics had was with the brakes squealing after a few laps. However, there were no signs of fading. Most of the good competition brake pads that do not fade, do squeal after a few laps.

Also a lot of IS owners are doing high-to-mid 13s in the 1/4 mile with their cars being totally stock. 335i does 0 - 60 high 4s (one or two tenths quicker than what an IS350 can hit) and they do mid-to-low 13s in the 1/4 mile (two or three tenths quicker than IS350).
That is not true from what my recent experience tells (atleast here in Canada). The coupe yes is more expensive than the IS350 (since 335 coupe costs more than the sedan), but the 335i sedan is almost the same price as the IS350 when comparably equipped.

I know it because I got my friend to consider G35, IS350 and 335 TT for his next car (wanted to trade in his 330 ci ZHP). We went test drove all three cars back to back and priced each one of them out. IS350 and 335 TT turned out to be exactly the same price and Lexus did not want to negotiate the price at all. My friend and myself were basically forced to walk out the door. The G35 was $8000 cheaper than both the IS350 and 335 TT so it seemed like the best bang for the buck.

However, driving exhilaration-wise and performance-wise the 335 TT was in it's own league plus BMW offered free maintenance for 4 years (no expense for parts and services). At the end of the day, he got a 335 TT with sports package, logic 7 premium stereo and 6 speed manual.

He is now thinking of Procede chip that increases boost levels and brings power up to 380 HP.

Many cars do much better. My 14 year old Supra did 0.98 in 1993 when C&D tested it. It's disappointing that 14 years later with better tires and wheels (well, maybe not better but more fashionable) we cannot equal the performance of yesterday's affordable supercars.

I've been to an awful lot of racetracks and dealt with an awful lot of racecars (and bikes) and I've never, ever, had a racing pad squeal. I don't know how you arrived at this conclusion, but it does not reflect my experience at all.

It is not a good plan to compare pricing in Canada with pricing in the US. Many of us got 10% or more off retail when buying our IS350s without much work at all.

And he got the car that suited his preferences, his pocketbook, and his immediate expectations. Everyone has different needs, wants, and finances. We live in different places. Some places may end up better with the BMW, others the Lexus, and other still the Infiniti. That's part of what makes us different from each other.

I am huge Supra fanboi. It has always been the Toyota that I admired the most and with the current state Toyota is in, probably will be in the future. However, I would not base the entire handling characteristics only on the skidpad numbers. The new E92 M3 did break the 8:00 barrier at the Nurburgring track, which is very exceptional for a full weight and full luxury sports car.

Though, I understand your point that some people pick more refinement over sportiness (Lexus had the best interior of the bunch and exterior as well) while others prefer more exhilaration and performance over luxury (335 TT offered the best here). With the free maintenance package thrown in, it was a no brainer for my friend.
