Considering a high performance IS-F, what will be the Maintenance cost associated with it....

How much will the Tires / Brakes last based on daily driver basis? How much can it cost to get it replaced?

Any impact of Maintenance cost with Lexus quoting as
"The engine also features a two-stage intake system, engine oil and transmission fluid coolers and an oil pump designed for high-speed cornering." ?

According to lexus the tires are rated for 15,000 miles but they also say dont count on more than 8k on them. Brakes probably last like any other car, quality of the pads will ensure long life.

with coolers on the oil and tranny fluid, those fluids would last longer, but id still do oil changes at 5k. You dont have to maintain the coolers themselves

the IS has coolers in them already. the trans cooler is built into the radiator. the mileage wont change for oil changes. even if it did...i wouldnt take the chance with all the hard driving the is-f would take. a car like that...id rather change the oil every 3k just to be sure everything stayed good.

wow, only 8k on a pair of tires? I have 40k miles on my original OEM tires but with an 04 4cyl Accord though. How is the IS350's tire life?

10k miles on any high performance car is a good average / dream to hardcore drivers

Maint. cost will be the same as any other Lexus. We're not talking about 60's machinery here. Although these are very precise and calculated engines, they are built by using tomorrows engineering and technology.

You will read tons of problems on forums, but remember basic statistics: sampling. I bet not a single stock, production-run IS-F will have an issue with ANY part of the car.

The only problems it will have are subjective such as handling opinions, ride quality, engine/exhaust noise, etc.

And it's an understood no matter what car you get (except BMWs, but the cost is built into the price of the car) you will have to pay for NORMAL scheduled maintenance. This includes oil changes at regular 10k miles (or whatever the computer on-board tells you) to brake pads and rotors and for some dealers, tires as well (or Tirerack).

I believe that the reason it took so long for Lexus to get into the big-boys game (IS-F goes against what cars -- the benchmark for coupes M3, the ferociously endowed C55/C63(!) and the awd wondercar RS4(RS5!) -- was that it needed to have a perfectly luxurious automobile as well as be reliable. This is not just a marketing entry, you're going to see an entire brand built around this car just as M Sport and AMG love to flaunt their stuff.

How does one resurface the cross drilled rotors when brake pads are changed? Is it possible? Never had a cross drilled rotors before. Any special maintenance requirement? Wonder if dealer is going to charge more for this type of rotors. Maybe not hourly rate but maybe a increase in time required instead.

as for tire life I have around 9700 miles and I probably have about 3-4k miles left. Although I did take my car to the track for about 50 hard driven laps, im sure that killed some tire life

no, also BMWs maintainence program isnt really as great as it sounds 4 years of maintainence but when the intervals are 15k miles, that means: ~3-4 oil changes, 1-2 pad changes, windshield wipers over 4 years

You're comparing apples to oranges. The tires on the IS-F will be high performance, low aspect ratio, summer tires that place an emphasis on grip, braking, turn in and high speed stability. The tires on your accord (even if they're "performance" tires put an emphasis on ride quality, longevity, and quiet running. And it's probably at least a 60 series tire.

I get 50 - 60,000 miles of treadlife out of the tires on our 1997 Lexus LS400 but I only get 5-7,000 miles of treadlife out of the rear tires on my 1998 Acura NSX.

I don't know about the new IS350's but we got about 15,000 miles out of the tire on our old IS300.
