I don't like the final drive ratio... why couldn't they just keep the 4.1 rear end we have? It seems gearing is too tall. If I were to get it, I'd want it to spin all the way to 60 mph if I needed. Right now, I can only spin in 1st gear. It would be cool to be cruising at 45, downshift to 2nd and lay down some rubber.

does anyone know what kind of empg the IS-F will have? i love the car but the only thing that'll keep me from buying it is if the empg is something like 14/20. i believe the twin turbo V6 GTR will have a much better empg since a 911 turbo v6 TT has a great one.

Just because a car is twin turbo does not mean it will have great fuel economy. The reason the 911 Turbo gets such good fuel economy is because Porsche uses a lot of innovative technology like variable geometry turbos. The previous GT-R (R34 GT-R) was also twin-turbo but it got horrible fuel economy.

Lexus is trying to avoid the gas guzzler tax, and also keep in mind the 8 speed tranny will help with the fuel economy. Overall it should be pretty good (if not class leading) for a 400+ HP car.

I'm afraid the IS-F's weight is the determining factor

I won't believe anything until Lexus has an official press release and tells us the final specs. We have all been waiting a very long time.

Threads merged - same source of info. Also, gear chart on page two corrected for final drive and reverse. Looks like top speed is acheived in 6th (1:1) gear.
