Well it's "first look" not "first drive". A summary of what we all already know so far, with nary a new bit of info or pic.
Can't Lexus give the press a "first drive" like BMW did for the M3 already?

Got my hopes up for a second there, though it was actually a "first drive" not a "first look". "First looks" from Edmunds are pretty useless, and this is no exception.
It tells us absolutely nothing new and makes a few mistakes too. Edmunds thinks that it's the same engine as the LS hybrid? Wrong. It's got different cylinder heads (among other things). The IS-F has 400HP? Again a mistake. And finally they mention the new M3 has 400HP
?
Is Edmunds just lazy, ignorant, or do they have a rounding problem?

This is like movie reviews, when a distributor doesn't want to show the movie to film critics it is usually a bad sign. I hope this isn't another 'close, but no cigar' Lexus attempt. If the car is coming out 1Q08 the press should be getting first rides soon. Personally, I don't think it will be in the same league as the M3 and its other German competition. But let's see what happens.

I just hope that the reluctancy of Lexus wanting the press to test drive the vehicle is because it really doesn't want press, and not for the reasons that the film industry doesn't give advanced showing of movies, because they're total stink bombs. Imagine if somehow the car comes out and it's ripped to shreads by the media, before the car even is released? Think the marketing back tracking Lexus would have to do. I think most magazines will praise it for it's power and finesse, but then add at the end "too bad it's not a stick shift."
