I was reading my motortrend magazine and the IS-F was featured in it. It says that the IS-F will start at around $60,000... That seems high IMO. Do you think this will change and be lower?

Why would you think it was going to be cheaper. The BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are all over 70K when fully equiped. Lexus will definately have the base model around $59,750 I am calling it now.

It's pretty easy to calculate, really. We already know the NM car is 68k so let's start from there. Subtract 800 for the NM, 3,990 for the ML/NAV, 4,325 for the LUX Pkg., 2,850 for PC, 500 for IPA, and 250 for headlight cleaners. That's a total of $12,715 subtracted from the fully loaded NM car. So, there you have it. A base ISF can be special ordered at a price of $55,285. I'm calling it.

The price discussion is already going on in there.
I believe that if Lexus has the base price over $55K they will be making a big mistake. Just look at the poll numbers at the link above to see why. More than 90% of the poll participants would not pay the $60K price. Another factor is that Lexus is new to this market segment and they just don't have the following that BMW and Mercedes have. They need something as an added selling point to help attract new customers, IMO. I'm not saying that it should be cheap. I'm just saying that I doubt many people will be interested if it is priced too high. Just because some of the competitors are priced higher, doesn't mean they will choose the IS-F because it is cheaper. People want value. The Lexus/Toyota loyalists will buy it regardless of price or performance, and Lexus needs more than those customers for this vehicle to be a successful addition to their lineup. I'm hoping for low $50K base and will drop it from consideration if they overprice it as Motortrend and several other magazines estimated. You can flame me all you want, but this is my opinion, and the poll here and at my.is are good estimators of how well the car will sell at the various prices.

If this car costs $60k, Lexus isn't going to sell many.
