Help me decide IS-F or 335xi
#18
thanks for the input, but if im not mistaken you may be wrong here. i remember seeing test stats for 335i having a better fuel mileage the IS 350. the IS-F from several magazine tests has been tested at 16 mpg vs over 20 for the 335i. even if the 335xi does in fact have poorer gas mileage i wouldn't think that it would be that much lower than 20 mpg.

ok.... after a long time deciding i have decided you get the IS-F.
reasons:
1st.they will basically cost you the same price since you are going to do all that crazy work to the 335, i don't know why any one would void their factory right away????So it equals about to the same price. and you get to keep the Factory Lexus warranty.
2nd.Resale value, you will keep more value with the IS-F,the 335i is a common car resale value will drop quicker and more.
3rd. The looks of the IS-f has more "wow factor"
4th. If you think about it the IS-f will only be as bad in the snow as the IS350 its totally doable with a good set of snows.
So what if you have to wait a little longer.... you are getting a race car practically. The resale value, warranty, looks are enough for me to decide the IS-F!
I wish i could afford one.... 2 more years till im a nurse maybe then...

actually the procede chip for the 335i gets better mpg than a stock 335i based upon the company that sells the procede chips...heh...that's what my friend tells me that has the chip already on his 335i coupe...

right, but the warranty issue is the biggest problem of getting the 335i, i mean if something goes wrong with the engine or anything associated with it, thats like several thousand dollars out of my pocked. also i forgot to mention that I was almost completely made up on getting the 335i but then realized it would cost just as much to make the 335i on par with the IS-F.
335xi (fully loaded) - $52,000
procede mod and exhaust = 2,500
big brake kit - 5,000
wheels & body work - 5,000
suspension - 500 - 2,000
= approximately 65,000

The Lexus IS F does have a snow setting according to an article I read. I am biased, I wouldn't even consider the BMW. The IS F is for enthusiasts, the BMW 335 is for trophy wives. That's why I called and got the NM SBS, so I could go to Skip Barber and drive the hell out of an IS F on the track.

what good is the warranty if the car is in the shop all the time. Its still a pain to have to leave your car for service every month, and not have it for weeks. Granted the 08 will be a lot better, but my friend had an 07 335 and hes already had it in for service 7 times in less than 6 months, and one of the times it was in for 4 weeks. He is currently trying to get them to buy it back from him/trade up for an 08. But just because they cover all your service doesnt make it ok for a new car to have so many problems. Let us know how the 08 works out for you, i really hope bmw addressed the numerous issues they have had with the 335s
