Yup... I honestly could not believe it when I saw that the IS-F only has 4 seats. To me, that is the whole point of buying a sedan over a coupe.

maybe that will be one of the improvements for '09?

Of course it is. That's why you give it to the child/friend you like least! Now ypi can't even be passive agressive about it.

Not much love for the larger families here I see. :

The reason I buy a sedan is because there are times you need to transport 4 other people. The flexibility is nice when going out with friends or family.

I agree, it makes getting in/out of the car a little easier then a coupe. Other then that, I don't expect it to be any roomier, otherwise, I would've gotten a GS/LS.

This is really almost a mid-cycle refresh of the IS, so I don't really see anything changing for it's 3-year run. Perhaps the last year it might see a rearrangement of the taillight configuration of stop light to turn signal, etc. More colors in and out is about all that can be expected.

No significant changes for '09. Since the car came out in '08 as an '08 model (as opposed to late '07 as an '08 model), it will only be available for about 8 months before the 09s start to arrive around September '08.

I hope they keep the IS-F colors fairly exclusive. For examply, I like Breakwater Blue on the IS, but I can't picture it on an IS-F.

And a fifth seat? Have you ever ridden "center" in the back of a standard IS?
Even four is a pinch in that car!

These cars are produced in such small numbers it doesn't really grow sales for Lexus to make big exterior/interior/mechanical changes.

I agree. How often do you see people actually taking rear-seat passengers to the track anyway? As a sedan it should offer the practicality of a people mover. The 5-seating configuration should at least be made an option.

I think there will be changes to the IS-F for 09, depending on what changes there are to the IS250 and IS350. Next year will be the mid-cycle refresh and they are going to add or change things to entice buyers to buy a now 4 year old design. Maybe they will add sideview mirror blinkers to the IS, just like they added them to the 08 GS this year at the midcycle refresh. If they do that the IS-F should get them too. So I would expect what ever changes that happen to the other IS's, the IS-F will get them too if they are relavent. Obviously, if they change, say the tailpipe config, it doesn't apply to the IS-F, but the sideview mirror blinkers are a possibility.
