Default What does the Sport Mode do for the IS-F?

Hi yallz!

Was just wondering what the Sport mode on the IS-F does for the car. Getting conflicting stuff from friends that it makes the suspension tighter, better shifting, etc... What do you guys know about it?

Thanks!

It allows you to shift through the 8 speed sequential shift automatic with lockup torque converter. Think of it like an smg tranny or clutchless manual trans. Each gear can be selected independently unlike the previous E-Shift/M Mode system prior and current Lexus vehicles. You can only upshift or downshift to the next gear granted the engine speed/trans speed is in the correct range for the transmission to shift into.

what do the asterisks next to "On" mean for TRAK and VSC in the sport mode?

I notice that the ISF shifts more crisply in Sport Mode. I trying to figure out if you lose any vehicle stabilty.

i believe you do lose vehicle stability to some degree. it allows you to do power slides but doesnt allow it to get too out of control

VDIM Sport is basically a medium setting. It's full ON, SPORT and full OFF. Sport mode allows you to kick the tail end just a bit, but the VDIM controls will still engage at a certain limit. Sport mode is a lot more forgiving than full ON as far as control, but will save you in some instances from completely losing control.

Can't you select each gear independently in ISX50 as well?

No, you can only select the maximum gear you will allow. For example, if you are in 4th at 3000 rpm and floor it, the transmission will downshift to 3rd without asking you. It is a very weak implementation and generally a disappointment to sport drivers of the ISx50.

1. increases throttle response.
2. increase steering response.
3. increase shift pattern and speed.
4. will hold which ever gear you are in.
5. increase the parameters for VDIM.
