Default Fujita Dyno Chat using Dynojet for my IS-F

Fujita was doing a intake test fit for my IS-F, so they dynod the car stock and then with the prototype intake. The intake only have 1-2 hp gains which is not worth it...haha...so I hope in the future they have an intake company that can get significant gains on the intake without losing lower end horse power but gaining high end horse power...

Note: Fujita dynoed the car at 5th gear and the fuel/air ratio runs rich based upon their dynojet numbers and another dynojet number when I took my car to dyno extreme last weekend.. I wonder what difference would it be if the car was dynoed at 6th gear since it is 1:1?

sorry numbers hopefully Fujita can do a little me R&D. Lets see what gains the other companies come out with ie: LMS, K&N, F-sport line, Injen, AEM etc. Anyone heard of these companies testing an intake for the IS-F?

Don't expect a lot. It won't happen on the intake side.

Dyno'ing in the correct gear will yield the best / correct results for each application..

On the IS250 / IS350 we use 4th gear for the DYNO, which is closest to 1:1 ratio..

As you now know.. on the IS-F its 6th gear...

If those are the stock numbers and your engine makes the claimed 416 hp, you're losing 17.25% to the drivetrain. Not very impressive, but typical for a RWD automatic.

^^ Sounds about right... But not sure how good this base number is...

The extensive R&D I have done on the IS250 & IS350 were showing a 15% & 14% drivetrain loss to the wheels.. respectively..

The Dyno test done on one of the prototype IS-F's by Automobile Mag. showed 333 rwhp..
Which would mean an approx 20% loss to the wheels.

416hp / 20% => 333 Rwhp approx.

I don't agree with Automobile's dyno and I think it was flawed.

Also lobux, CrazyMPG's dyno was not done in 6th gear which would have been optimal. Given how efficient the 8 speed in the IS-F is, I expect no more than 15% drivetrain loss, exceptional for a RWD automatic.

Agreed on all 3 statements..

However, with a 15% drivetrain loss, the DYNO numbers would be right around 354 rwhp... possible.. maybe??

I hope to have an accurate & correct base dyno test performed very soon on an IS-F..

*cough, cough... Phillip*

Hey Joe it might be time to do some R&D on an intake for the ISF I'd like to see what you can do......

I'm not quite understanding how one agrees or disagrees with someone's dyno. Do you mean their methodology was bad, or they fudged it? Either of these would not be in their best interest. You may not believe the results are representative, but it's impossible to argue with the numbers they got - what they published is what they observed.

I think you're terribly optimistic about what a gear change will do to dyno results. 17% isn't all bad, it's just not in the same league as a proper manual.
